Screw Those Angry Birds – Won’t Somebody Think Of The Misunderstood Pigs?

All this time, people have blindly taken the Birds’ word for it, and joined them in their campaign of violence against the pigs. Nobody thought to ask the pigs for their side of the story. Until now.

Misunderstood Pigs is a funny (and free, but ad-supported) game for iOS that flips Angry Birds on its feathery little head. In this game, your task is to protect the innocent pigs from terrorist bombardment by the birds.

It first appeared on the App Store just before Christmas, and to be honest I didn’t expect it to last long. I feared that lawyers would get involved and the app would get pulled.

But it seems that Rovio / Clickgamer, the people who make Angry Birds and all its many spin-offs, have a sense a humor and are allowing Misunderstood Pigs its turn in the limelight.

Gameplay-wise, you know what to do and what to expect. Each level provides you with a limited number of building materials, and shows you where the birds will be flying in from. It’s up to you to build something that will foil their dastardly birdish plans. Sometimes it can get a bit fiddly, because it’s easy for your building to get obscured by your own fingers.

Oink oink, as the poor pigs would mutter to themselves as they shiver in their shelters, holding their piglets close and praying that the bombing will end soon. Oink oink oink.
