The introduction of the Mac App Store earlier this year has seen a boost in big-name games coming to our Macs. Rockstar Games has re-released its awesome Grand Theft Auto titles, Aspyr brought us (but we didn’t want it!) Duke Nukem Forever, and now Feral Interactive is set to release Batman: Arkham Asylum on October 13.

Batman:Arkham Asylum was first released back in 2009, and if you haven’t already had chance to play it on consoles, we highly recommend you get it for your Mac. You take on the role of Batman as he delivers The Joker to Arkham Asylum — Gotham’s psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. There, the imprisoned super-villains have set up a trap to take over the asylum, and it’s your job to foil The Joker’s plan.

IGN describes the titles as “awesome” and rates it 9.2 out of 10. David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive, says:

“Batman: Arkham Asylum is a game where all the individual elements, story, gameplay, design, music and voice acting all combine superbly to create an extraordinary experience.”

The game will be available to download both from Feral’s website, and from the Mac App Store on October 13 — which is just 5 days before the release of the game’s sequel, Arkham City. The game will be priced at $39.99 when it hits the Mac App Store.
