New Mac Pro Servers and Mac Mini Servers Incoming With Lion?

It’s been about a year since Apple updated its Server line-up with new Mac Pro and Mac Mini Servers. Now, constricting supplies of both indicate that a new refresh is coming… just in time for Lion.

According to 9to5Mac‘s sources, supplies of the Mac Pro Server and Mac Mini Server are severely constrained, and since Phil Schiller took charge at Apple, you know what that means: new models incoming.

It makes sense. One radical departure of OS X Lion is that the Server functionality no longer comes as a separate $500 operating system, but instead as a $50 Mac App Store download.

At the very least, once Lion comes around, Mac’s server options will need to come with Lion Server pre-installed, and Apple might as well update the hardware while they’re at it.
