Journalists Cover Microsoft, Using Macs

It’s not an easy time for Microsoft — with Steve Ballmer having to field questions about being “buffoons” and an “evil empire”  at the shareholder’s meeting (.doc) — so when they get together “the world’s most influential technology pundits and online writers” (nb: we weren’t invited) for Mobius to discuss super-secret mobile tech you’d think [...]

Review: Voices Is Today’s Best Thing Ever, Grab It Now While It’s Cheap

New on the App Store is Voices from the clever folk at Tap Tap Tap. You can guess what it does.

Open it up, pick a silly voice. Helium is pretty silly. A microphone appears and the app even clears your throat for you (try it, you’ll see what I mean). Now speak your brains, and [...]

Review: Sony Walkman S540 Series Video MP3 Player

Press releases, you will hardly be surprised to hear, are rarely very interesting. But one arrived in my inbox a couple of weeks ago that made me double-take.
“Sony’s S Series Walkman,” it chattered, “is a serious challenger to the iPod Nano.” Gosh, really? Perhaps the Cult had better have a look at one, then, despite [...]

Where Is My App Store Wish-list, Apple?

I’ve been poking around iTunes 9 since yesterday evening (UK time), and there’s some good (app management), some bad (stability issues) and some “beaten repeatedly with an ugly stick until unconscious” ugly (most of the UI, the hideous column nav). But one thing with the App Store refresh within iTunes 9 just baffles me: the lack of wish-lists for apps.

Thanks for not letting me build an apps wish-list, Apple!

Thanks for not letting me build an apps wish-list, Apple!

As shown in the pic, access a song’s menu and you get to add the item to a wish-list. With an app, you can merely ‘tell a friend’. I’m sure owners of the many websites that provide wish-list functionality for the App Store are breathing a collective sigh of relief, but it strikes me a strange and inconsistent that Apple’s not enabling users to store a list of interesting apps for later purchase.

Apple could have implemented wish lists from the start, but I believe they chose not to do so. For them, it’s worth risking the walk-offs in order to grab as many impulse purchases as possible. If you could defer the purchase of a 99-cent game or joke app, would you really come back to it and make a purchase after thinking about it for a little while?

    it’s about time you use appsfire.com :)

I totally agree with that, It looks like they forgot to add it in the App Store section, but maybe is related to the fact they didnt revamped the detail page for every App.

Anyway I think that the wish list is a lot more useful for App Store than Music Store…

@Jindo—you’re probably right, but you could easily make the same argument for one-dollar music tracks. In my case, I just forget about apps, so Apple loses a sale, rather than ‘maybe’ getting one later.

    LOL i have wishlist feature

I was trying to find a wish list for apps this morning and googled “add apps to wishlist” and found this blog. I can’t believe Apple left this out.

looks like a lot of people would like to see this feature added:
