Journalists Cover Microsoft, Using Macs

It’s not an easy time for Microsoft — with Steve Ballmer having to field questions about being “buffoons” and an “evil empire”  at the shareholder’s meeting (.doc) — so when they get together “the world’s most influential technology pundits and online writers” (nb: we weren’t invited) for Mobius to discuss super-secret mobile tech you’d think [...]

Review: Voices Is Today’s Best Thing Ever, Grab It Now While It’s Cheap

New on the App Store is Voices from the clever folk at Tap Tap Tap. You can guess what it does.

Open it up, pick a silly voice. Helium is pretty silly. A microphone appears and the app even clears your throat for you (try it, you’ll see what I mean). Now speak your brains, and [...]

Review: Sony Walkman S540 Series Video MP3 Player

Press releases, you will hardly be surprised to hear, are rarely very interesting. But one arrived in my inbox a couple of weeks ago that made me double-take.

Eminem and Lugz Mashed Up

Here’s one way to resolve the spat between Lugz footwear and Apple over the copycat Eminem iPod ad — combine them.

iPodz is a seamless mashup that advertises two products in one ad – the iPod and urban streetwear. It’s actually not a bad idea. The products and target audience are complementary.

Not quite seamless, from 11 seconds to 13 seconds eminem is holy.

    didn’t work.

That’s a pretty jarring transition, if you ask me. I remember when you first blogged about the Eminem commercial, and you were troubled by the fact that Eminem shoved the iPod dancer. This seems to be far worse. More like an invasion of the iPod commerical by the Lugz commercial, even though references and shots of iPods are added into the second half. The color scheme may be the same, but the two commercials do not work together as currently constructed, IMHO.

here’s a side by side by the same company that is accusing apple of plagiarism
