The more we hear, the more Apple’s reported web TV service sounds like a dream come true for cord-cutters!
With previous reports suggesting the subscription service will offer around 25 channels in total, a new Wall Street Journal report claims Apple is busy talking with both Discovery and Viacom about the venture. Deals with those companies could bringing channels including Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon to viewers.
Yahoo released a brand new video app for iOS today that aims to bring a TV-like experience to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. The new app – called Yahoo! Screens – allows users to browse through TV clips and episodes by swiping left-to-right as well as up-and-down.
Users can customize the experience to their liking and use Screen to discover new content and shows. To kick things off, Yahoo partnered with Viacom to pump out clips from The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Saturday Night Live, as well as other series and movies. The free app is available in the App Store now.
Apple is reportedly looking to skirt the cable companies and strike up deals with HBO, ESPN, Disney, and Viacom to offer their content on a new pay TV service. Rather than distributing content in channels, Apple’s strategy would emphasize apps over cable TV according to a report from QZ.

Time Warner Cable announced today that starting tomorrow, TWC subscribers will be able to stream live TV to their Apple devices for the first time ever. An update for TWC’s iOS app should roll out tomorrow that will make 11 live national news, sports, and entertainment channels available to subscribers outside of their home, via an iPhone or iPad.
