Tweetbot just rolled out a major update for its iPhone and iPad apps, adding new Home screen widgets, multi-window support, and more. The version 6.2 release also plays nicely with Handoff and Shortcuts for the first time.
Pro Tip: How to activate Tweetbot 5’s hidden themes
Tweetbot 5 for iOS adds some nice modern features, including a dark theme that looks great on OLED screens. There’s also an awful, creepy new icon.
But that’s not why we’re here today. The iPhone’s best Twitter app also packs a whole bunch of secret, hidden themes for you to choose from. Here’s how to activate them.
Tweetbot 3 for Mac brings night mode and video previews
Tweetbot has long been our favorite third-party Twitter client for a whole bunch of awesome reasons — and now there’s even more. Tweetbot 3 today landed on macOS, bringing night mode, GIF and video previews, timeline filters, and more.
What’s more, developer Tapbots promises that Tweetbot will continue to work even if Twitter rolls out its controversial clampdown on unofficial apps.
New versions of Tweetbot for iPhone, iPad and Mac are on the way
Many of us have been eagerly awaiting a new version of Tweetbot for iPad for quite a while now, as well as an updated version of Tweetbot for Mac. The wait seems like it’s drawing to a close though. Today, developer Tapbots shared some updates, giving us a roadmap for the next updates to both Tweetbots for Mac and Tweetbot for iOS.
First look at Tweetbot for Mac’s Yosemite redesign
We’ve known that a big redesign of Tweetbot for Mac has been in the works for awhile, and now Tapbots designer Mark Jardine has shared a little tease with the world.
Infinite Tweet 2 Lets Jailbreakers Tweet Infinite Jest
The arbitrary 140 character limit of tweets can oftentimes seem as maddeningly arbitrary as it is maddeningly short. It’s not arbitrary, actually: Twitter was originally designed to work over dumbphones as an SMS service, and 140 characters is the maximum size of a single SMS (longer SMSes are actually sent as multiple messages and pieced together by your phone). In turn, the reason SMSes are 140 characters is that’s the maximum amount of information that fits into the small pocket of bandwidth that is left over with all the cellular voice calls whizzing through the air.
Interesting, huh? And, of course, Twitter’s cultural tersity has its benefits. Still, sometimes you just want to send a longer tweet, only to be thwarted by Twitter’s hardline stance. For just those moments, a new jailbreak tweak called Infinite Tweet 2 has come to make things easier for you.
Tweetbot For Mac 1.4.1 Update Fixes The Bugs That Ail You
Tweetbot is probably our favorite Twitter client for iOS, especially after Tweetbot 3 gave the app a major makeover for iOS 7.
It’s also one of our favorite Mac Twitter clients, but it tends to hover a bit behind Tweetbot for iPhone when it comes to features. A new update, however, narrows the gap a little bit, introducing a number of useful bug fixes. Don’t expect a major aesthetic overhaul, though.
Tweetbot 3 For iPhone Now Available In The App Store
Tapbots has released its highly-anticipated iOS 7 redesign of Tweetbot, a popular third-party Twitter client. Version 3.0 is a radical departure from the iOS 6 app, and it’s available now in the App Store for iPhone.
Tweetbot 3.0 For iOS 7 Has Been Submitted To The App Store
You may have heard that there’s a big update in the works for Tweetbot, one of the most popular third-party Twitter apps out there. Version 3.0 for iOS 7 has been kept under wraps for the past several months, and today the app is one step closer to your iOS device.
Tapbots, the small app company that makes Tweetbot, announced today that it has submitted Tweetbot for iOS 7 to the App Store.
Tweetbot Adds Support For Instagram Video To iOS Apps
Instagram’s new video feature has taken off like wild fire as more than 5 million clips were uploaded in the first 24 hours alone. Many of those new 15-second Instagram videos are all over Twitter, but depending on the Twitter client you’re using, you might not be able to view them.
Tapbots announced today that it has added Instagram video support to its popular Twitter app, Tweetbot. The update is available on both the iPad and iPhone apps which run $2.99 a piece in the App Store.

Cult Of Mac’s Awesome 2012 Advent Calendar: Day 7 – Tweetbot For Mac
One of the better Yuletide traditions is the venerable holiday Advent Calendar, in which each day of December leading up to Christmas is marked off on a special calendar by opening its corresponding door to find a small gift, toy or chocolate squirreled away inside.
This year, we here at Cult of Mac decided we wanted to give our readers their very own Apple-themed advent calendar, filled with the year’s best apps, gadgets, stories and other curios. So each day in December, we’re going to lovingly peel back the door on the Cult of Mac 2012 Advent Calendar to reveal another delicious morsel, something really special that came out this year that we think every one of you should enjoy.
So what’s behind the door on Friday the 7th? Tweetbot for Mac, the best (and most expensive) Twitter client on the Mac App Store!
Tweetbot For Mac Is Premium Software And Worth Every Penny [Review]
Tweetbot just dropped on the Mac App Store today, and perhaps the most surprising thing about it is the price. At $20, it’s significantly more expensive than most social networking clients. The thing is, it’s important not to see the number and instantly start making comparisons. You need to look at the price and ask: does this app provide 20 dollars worth of value? Judge it by that standard, and it doesn’t seem so expensive after all.
Tweetbot For Mac Goes Gold On The Mac App Store For $19.99
It’s finally here. After a long alpha and beta period, and months of teasing before it, Tapbot’s incredible Tweetbot client for Mac is finally here in polished, 1.0 form. That’s the good news. The bad news is the app in its final form costs $20, a price that is sure to scare off all but the most die-hard Twitter users.
Social Networking Steps Sideways With Netbot For iOS [Review]
New from Tapbots is Netbot, an iOS client for app.net users.
If you’ve used Tweetbot, you already know how to use Netbot. It looks almost identical to its precursor, and behaves almost identically too.
Iconfactory Continues ‘All-New’ Twitterrific Development Unfazed By Twitter’s New Rules
When Twitter released its new guidelines last week, it quickly became clear that third-party clients would be hit hardest by the company’s latest rules. However, it seems third-party developers aren’t quite as concerned as the rest of us. Tapbots quickly confirmed that Tweebot development wouldn’t change, and now Iconfactory has confirmed that it will continue development on an “all-new” Twitterrific as planned — unfazed by Twitter’s new rules.
Hatch Tweetbot for Mac’s Egg Icon Into A Blue Robot Bird [How-To]
One of the many clever little touches accompanying last week’s official unveiling of the Tweetbot alpha for Mac was the icon: signifying’s the app’s alpha status, the blue robotic bird icon we all know and love on iOS was replaced with a metallic silver egg. Get it? Because it’s still not hatched.
I still love that joke, and it’s a great example of the little things Tapbots does that sets them apart from the rest… but I have to say, over the course of the last week using Tweetbot as my Mac Twitter client, I’ve missed having Tweetbot’s iconic blue bird in my dock. Here’s how to give Tweetbot for Mac the same icon as on iOS.
How To Enable Push Notifications For Tweetbot [iOS Tip]
Tweetbot is undoubtedly the hottest Twitter client available for iOS right now, and thanks to its arrival on the iPad last week, there are thousands of new users discovering the app for the first time. If you’re one of them, the first thing you’ll want to know is how to enable push notifications.
Push notifications aren’t setup when you first install the app, so you’ll need to do it manually. Here’s how!
Tweetbot For iPad Now Available In The App Store, Get Downloading!
Following the Tweetbot for iPhone 2.0 update earlier today, Tapbots has released Tweetbot for iPad in the App Store. The new app costs $2.99 and is available now.
All the features Tweetbot for iPhone users have come to appreciate are present in the new iPad app, and Tapbots has created a very compelling experience that takes advantage of smart gestures, intuitive design elements, and robust third-party service integration.
Tweetbot 2 For iPhone Now Available, A Great Twitter Client Just Got Better
Tapbots released Tweetbot 2.0 for iPhone in the App Store today. The update brings several significant improvements, including one-tap links, image preview thumbnails, faster performance, and a UI facelift.
Tweetbot was already one of the best third-party Twitter clients in the App Store, and it just got even better with version 2.0.
Tweetbot 1.5 Update Allows You To Mute The Most Obnoxious People On Twitter
Everyone’s favorite Twitter client from Tapbots just got an awesome update that introduces t.co URL shortening, support for international hashtags, the ability to email direct messages, and some bug fixes. But Tweetbot’s best new feature by far is mute filters, which allow you to ignore the people you don’t want to hear to for a while.
Tweetbot 1.1 Gets Landscape View, New Features, Bug Fixes
I loved Tweetbot in my review and I firmly believe it’s one of the nicest Twitter clients to grace our iPhones, however, when it first launched it was lacking some features that we are looking forward to in future updates. One of those features is landscape view, and thankfully this comes with the Tweetbot 1.1 update that’s just hit the App Store.
‘Tweetbot’ for iPhone Deserves its Release Day Hype [Review]
One of the most anticipated Twitter clients for the iPhone finally hit the App Store yesterday, and I was staggered by the attention it received within its first few hours – I can’t remember the last time an iOS application launched with that kind exposure – especially not a Twitter client.
From Tapbots – the creators of Convertbot, Pastebot and Weightbot – Tweetbot promises to be a full-featured Twitter client with a lot of personality; boasting a meticulously crafted user interface, smart gestures, and customizable navigation.
Tweetbot’s launch is big news today – it’s all over Twitter and many publications are dubbing the application a Twitter for iPhone killer. But is it as good as the release day hype would have you believe? Find out in our review after the break!
