One of the best iPad features is the auto-lock/unlock that is triggered when you open and close its cover. Introduced with the iPad 2, smart unlock was revolutionary, in terms of lazy unlocking at least.

But did you know that the iPhone can do the same? If you have an X-series iPhone, and a compatible cover, you can use the same auto sleep/wake feature that iPad users have enjoyed since the iPad 2.

Jony Ive began to drift away from Apple shortly after the Apple Watch launched, a new report claims. The Apple design chief’s waning enthusiasm caused problems during development of the iPhone X and other products.

Following news that Ive is finished at Apple (at least as a full-time employee), this account backs up earlier reports stating that he had had one foot out the door for a while. In some cases, Ive’s long goodbye made things difficult for his co-workers.

Sluggish iPhones sales leave Apple with surplus OLED problem

Weak iPhone sales over the last two years could cause Apple to bring OLED displays to the iPad or MacBooks a bit earlier than expect.

Apple owes Samsung Display hundreds of millions of dollars because it agreed to purchase a certain amount of OLED displays per year. With iPhone sales in a slump, Apple hasn’t bought as many OLEDs as it promised but the two sides are reportedly discussing alternative solutions other than sending a giant pile of cash to Samsung.

A few weeks ago, I dropped my iPhone down a flight of stairs. What else is new? It’s a ridiculous story that no one wants to hear, and yet all of you have probably experienced something similar. However, as I rushed down those precarious steps to retrieve my undoubtedly shattered iPhone, I was completely surprised.

Not because I didn’t think my Xkin screen protector would hold up against the 10-foot drop but because I had completely forgotten it was even on my screen in the first place! Not until I saw zero damage did I remember I installed the Xkin 3D Tempered Glass onto my iPhone months ago.

I completely forgot it was even there. How? Just Mobile’s rounded, full-coverage design runs edge to edge, including the iPhone’s curved screen. Xkin might as well be invisible.

Good news for everyone, this triple threat isn't too good to be true.
Protection that won't get in your way.

With the Cult of Mac Watch Store’s new goodies from Just Mobile, we had to revisit TENC Air – the incredibly slim, apocalypse-proof, self-healing iPhone case from the same brand.

Yes, it is all those things and more.

Five months ago, we did our first review of TENC Air, and the results blew our minds. Subsequently, these bad boys started flying off our virtual shelves.

Fast forward to the present, and I’m still sporting my TENC case. Why?

Because this triple threat is the real deal, and what’s more is TENC truly stands the test of time (aka 1000s of parking lot iPhone drops since my first review).

Don’t believe us? Watch the video down below for yourself.

iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max owners are reporting animation stutters after leaving their handsets idle for around 10 seconds.

The problem, which is most obvious when opening or closing apps and scrolling pages, has reportedly been present for several months now. It persists in the latest iOS 12.2 betas, which suggests Apple hasn’t yet found a fix.

The iPhone X had one of the shortest lifespans of any iPhone Apple has ever made, being cancelled when Apple introduced its next-gen handsets back in September. However, according to a new report, Apple is restarting production on last year’s iPhone model in certain markets.

And it may all have to do with a lack of demand for some of the newer iPhones.

A Twitter user has complained to Apple after their iPhone X reportedly exploded while updating to iOS 12.1. According to Rahel Mohamad, the ten-month old iPhone X became excessively hot to touch. When it was dropped by its user it began emitting smoke, before exploding.

It was being charged at the time with what Mohamad claims was the official Apple Lightning cable that came bundled with the phone. However, the explosion happened after the iPhone was unplugged from the charger.
