Apple is looking to open a flagship store in downtown Los Angeles’ historic Broadway Trade Center, reports the Downtown LA Examiner, which claims its heard whispers that Cupertino plans to invade the massive building that nearly occupies an entire city block.

The Broadway Trade Center building was recently purchased by New York real estate firm Waterbridge Capitol earlier this year for around $130 million, but it the company may have already scored its first tenant.

The addition of Apple fans flocking to the area will be welcome news to the numerous retail shops that have popped up in the Broadway corridor over the last few years. The Broadway Trade Center was opened in 1908 as a Hamburger’s Department Store, but the area regressed over the last few decades and is now part of the “Bring Back Broadway” movement that has a 10-year plan to bring the historic area back to its former glory.

According to the report, the LA building will serve as more than just a store. Apple will have a campus in the building with multiple office spaces, and residential areas. The company is even considering adding a branch for Beats to the building too, which has its headquarters in Culver City.

The addition of residential spaces sounds a bit off for Apple, which just opened offices in Seattle and Cambridge, but maybe it needs them for when Tim and other execs are in town? No word on when Apple might move in, but if the lease has already been signed, we expect the announcement could come soon.
