Photoshop turns 30 today, and to celebrate this massive milestone, Adobe is rolling out some handy new tools for the iPad version of its app.
The latest update brings an Object Selection tool and Type settings. They help bring Photoshop for iPad a little bit closer to the desktop version, and they’re part of Adobe’s mission to deliver a “continuous stream” of new features.
There are some nice additions for Photoshop on desktop, too.
Adobe is working on a brand new Photoshop app that will bring its most powerful editing tools to iPad. It will make its debut sometime this year, but a lucky few will get the chance to test it early.
Creative Cloud subscribers can now sign up for a chance to get access to the beta.
Adobe is apparently cranking up the prices for its Photography bundle of applications. But don’t worry: it’s only increasing by 100%.
Adobe’s website is now listing $19.99, rather than its previous $9.99, for the monthly subscription cost for Photoshop CC, Lightroom CC, and Lightroom Classic. The company claims that it is testing out new pricing options.
Hot off the heels of Apple’s announcement of ARKit 2.0, creative software giant Adobe revealed its own foray into augmented reality. Soon many more people should be able to create 3D, animated content that seems to float in the real world.

Adobe is killing off its mobile version of Photoshop, doubling down on its strategy of creating simpler photo apps focused on specific tasks rather than all-in-one photo-editing software.
In a blog post detailing its strategy for mobile apps, Adobe said Photoshop Touch will be taken off the App Store on May 28. A new retouching app codenamed “Project Rigel” is in the works and will be released later this year.
I was all set to pull the trigger on Adobe’s Creative Cloud Photography plan, which gives subscribers access to Lightroom and Photoshop as well as Lightroom Mobile for the iPad and iPhone.
After all, it’s just $10 per month, right? (or €12.29/$16.71 in the EU). That’s about what I spend on Rdio, or Dropbox, and I get Lightroom on my frickin’ camera.
But I decided to hold off and see if one huge doozy of a design problem is fixed before my 30-day trial of the service finishes up. This will also give me time to check out the amazing new Adobe Photoshop Mix, which is what Photoshop for iPad should have been all along.
And the little problem that could be a deal-breaker? You’re gonna love it…
I remember trying to wrap my head around the Adobe suite a few years ago, and at first I used trial and error to make things happen. Needless to say, things didn’t happen. Then I picked up several books on the software suite, but they only provided some marginal help… at best.

Adobe announced a lot of changes to their core creativity suite today, CS6, as well as a massively overhauled Photoshop, but forget features, here’s the real thing you need to know. Adobe Creative Suite 6 is the last app suite Adobe is ever going to let you buy. From now on, you’ll have to rent your Adobe apps.
Adobe pushed out a big update to its Ideas app for iOS today, introducing a number of news tools and features that promise to give you “more creative options and control.” There are enhanced tools for drawing, working with color, and managing layers, Adobe says — in addition to support for the iPhone 5, iPad mini, and iOS 6.
Adobe has announced the immediate availability of Creative Suite 6 for Mac and PC, including new releases of its famous creativity tools like Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Premier Pro, and more; with package prices starting at $1,299.
The company has also announced that its new Creative Cloud service, which provides access to all Creative Suite applications and a cloud-based storage and sharing solution for $49.99 per month, will be available from May 11.
Adobe is set to launch a new service during the next few months called the Creative Cloud, which will allow users unlimited access to its pricey Creative Suite 6 package for just $49.99 a month. What’s more, Lightroom 4 will also be bundled in as soon as it’s out of beta.
That’s pretty terrific when you consider purchasing CS6 up-front will cost your around $2,000. In comparison, $600 a year is a bargain, and you get a lot more for your money.
