You have from now until the end of March to enter your most amazing iPhone or iPad photographs to compete in the 15th annual edition of the iPhone Photography Awards. As in past years, for the 2022 contest you submit your pics through the group’s website.
Just a few months after release, the Apple TV has just about 3,600 apps in its App store. That’s a ton of entertainment, games, and media apps waiting to be discovered on the big screen.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a single killer app among them.
AppLovin, a mobile adverting and analysis firm, is hoping to change all that with the first ever Apple TV contest and hackathon, to be held in San Francisco this coming April.
For all but the absolute purists, our iPhones have taken over as the camera of choice. We’ve dedicated an upcoming issue of our weekly mag to taking even better photographs with our iPhones.
Here’s where you come in: Send us your best pics on the theme of “Silver.” Yeah, that can be anything from a close-up on your Space Gray iPad (kind of recursive, but why not?) to glittering ice on the sidewalk. Make sure you take the picture with an iPhone – any model will do.

To enter, just take the most creative iPhone photo that matches the topic “Silver” that you can think of — and you can also submit pics you’ve snapped that fit the theme. Then upload your photo to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag – #CoMSilver.
The contest ends on Thursday, February 20 at 8 a.m. PT, but there’s no limit to how many times you can enter, so get snapping, you amazing creative types.

GMIC – Silicon Valley’s largest mobile internet conference – is about to get underway in just a few short weeks. Over 10,000 developers, executives, entrepreneurs and investors from all over the world will descend on San Francisco’s Moscone Center on October 21-23 to talk about all the latest changes in mobile. Attendees will get to listen to speakers from Facebook, Qualcomm, Y-Combinator, PopCap, and many more, as well as party as hard as some Silicon Valley nerds can muster.

Samsung has a problem. It controled 33.1% of the global smartphone marketshare last quarter — Apple was only 17.9% — yet that’s almost entirely in the low-end of the market.

Apple just announced that the App Store just hit its 50 billionth app download ever. To celebrate the event, Apple said it would give a $10,000 App Store Gift Card to the person who downloads the 50 billionth app. Apple’s also giving $500 App Store Gift Cards to the next 50 people to download an app after the 50 billion mark.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a contest here at Cult of Mac, so let’s start the week off with a little bit of fun. We’re looking for a few talented (or not-so talented) readers to voluntarily decapitate themselves and replace their head with an iPad. Microsoft concocted a brilliant marketing campaign where they challenge mobile users to complete various tasks faster than a Windows phone. Any contestant able to “smoke” a Windows phone with their current mobile phone will be awarded a Hunger Games Special Edition PC worth over $1000. Even if you lose the challenge (which Microsoft has made certain of), you will win the opportunity to trade-in your current phone for a free Windows phone (excluding the Nokia Lumia 800). At Cult of Mac we’re huge fans of going to the movies. Few experiences can compare to seeing pretty boy Ryan Gosling beating the crap out of Ron Perlman on a towering 70ft x 30ft screen.
