Alien Blue, the most popular third-party Reddit client for iOS, has been acquired by Reddit itself. To celebrate, the ‘Pro’ upgrade in-app purchase is available for free instead of $2. The iPad app is also free to download.
Developer Jason Morrissey has joined Reddit, and he will continue to develop Alien Blue and add new features.
I could get lost in Reddit for days. It’s beautiful. It’s horrible. If it weren’t for Alien Blue my Reddit binging would be confined to my desktop, but alas, they make a hell of an app that feeds my addiction on the iPhone too.
To make things even better (or worse), Alien Blue just received a major update this week that makes browsing Reddit from your iPhone more alluring than ever. They’ve added a crapload of UI improvements, some new moderator tools, better navigation, and a ton of other stuff all for free.
Here are the release notes on everything new in version 2.7:
One of the better Yuletide traditions is the venerable holiday Advent Calendar, in which each day of December leading up to Christmas is marked off on a special calendar by opening its corresponding door to find a small gift, toy or chocolate squirreled away inside.
This year, we here at Cult Of Mac decided we wanted to give our readers their very own Apple-themed advent calendar, filled with the year’s best apps, gadgets, stories and other curios. So each day in December, we’re going to lovingly peel back the door on the Cult Of Mac 2012 Advent Calendar to reveal another delicious morsel, something really special that came out this year that we think every one of you should enjoy.
What’s on the other side of the door for Day 3? It’s Jasmine, an exquisitely designed, utterly beautiful app that will make you rediscover how cool YouTube can really be.
Alien Blue gets tons of new features in version 2.6.
Alien Blue, undoubtedly the best third-party Reddit client for iOS, has just received a great new update on the iPhone. In addition to a long list of improvements and optimizations, version 2.6 brings the ability to sort your subreddits into groups, and then sync them via iCloud; Retina subreddit icons, a native Imgur album browser, a native GIF player, and lots more.
