Early Apple Employees Auction Killer Collectibles

If there’s a good thing about the recession, it seems to be bringing some fine Apple memorabilia out of storerooms and closets.
Cliff and Dick Huston — ex-Apple engineers, for the record employees 27 and 25 — have decided to part with a treasure trove of Cupertino collectibles by auctioning them on eBay.

What’s on the block:

You’re all going crazy with your iPad ordering. Meanwhile, over on Vimeo, BrewBeau has some craziness of his own going on.
BrewBeau writes: “I’m a recent PC convert who waited patiently while Apple worked out the kinks with their latest iMac release of the 27″ Intel powered 2.8GHz quad core i7 iMac. It’s a thing of [...]

Bottom-Feeding Jeweler Unveils Despicable Diamond iPad for $20,000

We all know the wait for the iPad, at least in the U.S., will be over on April 3, right? Wrong. True connoisseurs know they need to wait until June 1, when Mervis Diamond Importers will unleash the hideous and despicable Diamond iPad on the world. It’s a bejeweled and bedazzled monstrosity boasting 11.43 carats [...]

iPhone App Magnets To Appify Your Fridge

20100312-iphonemagnets.jpg

If – like me – your fridge is black, then these shiny iPhone app fridge magnets from Jailbreak Collective will look very smart indeed displayed on the door.
Just 13 bucks gets you a set of these icon almost-replicas. I say almost because if you look carefully, you’ll see they’re not identical to the Apple originals. [...]

Songbird Sings iTunes’ Tune

Songbird

This is a new player for Windows called Songbird. Recognize the layout?

It seems that they copied iTunes — and there are even links to music stores like Amazon in the player. A wild guess is that it works, and is intended for players other than the iPod.

Songbird.

it seemes that you forgot how to spelle.

    “but OURS goes to eleven…”

Linkspammers are now the spelling police. How cute.

On topic, the iTunes interface is widely imitated. Look at Linotype’s FontExplorer X: they don’t hide the fact that they are trying to be “iTunes for fonts.”

I like how they explain how long it took to ‘design’. You mean to ‘design like itunes’? What a rip.

oh man, now i’m a “link spammer!” actually, i just typed the first thing that popped into my head in the url box, because a lot of these sites *require* stupid stuff like that.

in reality, i was genuinely curious as to why the spelling was so bad. leander has always seemed very conscientious about stuff like that, so why the abrupt change? it was like his blog got hijacked or something.

the entry was invisible for awhile, and now here it is back again, with the spelling corrected. very strange.

My english sucks and all my articles shall go through leander before they are published, this one was a mistake :)

Apple has patents on the iTunes UI.. how long until they’re gobbled up by the cupertino clockwork?

How is this a “windows” app?
It is Gecko based, (well XULRunner based) just like Firefox. Is intended to work under Linux, Windows and OSX.

And I imagine if some idiotic thing like a UI layout is patented, they can simply change the UI. It is only XML, after all.

I think it is pretty cool if it delivers, will allow connecting multiple media sources more easily than iTunes, and in a cross-platform fashion.

I just got my 2000t and all of my songs are skipping in iTunes, and I cant figure out why. If someone could help me out and tell me how to fix this I would really appreciate it because its driving me crazy. Thanks for the replys.
