Review: StandHear iPhone Stand Worth The Price For Headphone Splitter
11:59 pm, September 30th, 2009, Chris Kahney

The latest release into the already crowded market of iPod/iPhone holders is the StandHear Travel Stand & Headphone Splitter from Agent 18.
The compact, fold-out case allows you to support your iPod/iPhone at four different viewing angles, leaving your hands free to do whatever they might need to be doing whilst watching your favorite movie or reviewing por… er, important documents.

The thing that sets the Standhear apart from most other iPod/iPhone stands is the headphone splitter, allowing two people to listen at the same time without splitting one pair of earphones between them. The StandHear has two headphone jacks, one on either side (extra headphones not included).
The StandHear is made of rugged plastic and measures a mere 3″ x 3″ x 0.5″, which makes it ideal for slipping into your jacket pocket when traveling or just chilling out at the local cafe.
Overall, the $24.95 StandHear is slightly more expensive than other iPhone stands on the market, but has the added headphone splitting function should that be one of your needs.
Also compatible with Blackberry Storm & Palm Pre.

I’ll keep saying this every time: Why in the world do we need another iPhone dock (as there are zillions of them) when what EVERYONE NEEDS is a friggin EXTERNAL KEYBOARD and there isn’t even a single one for the iPhone yet !!!
Unless of course you have a Blackberry, Palm Treo, or WindowsMobile phone, and then there are ZILLIONS of EXTERNAL KEYBOARDS !!!
Go figure.

All those devices you mentioned have USB or other ports; the iPhone only has the iPod-like port. This sort of a dock is easy to make for the iPhone because all it does it sit on it and plug into the headphone jack, not the special Apple-port. Now that they’ve unlocked the port in the API for developers, hopefully we will see it. But also, as Steve Himself has said, (something along the lines of) “Users don’t want a rigid, physical keyboard.” So if he truly believes that, why would he allow a keyboard to be added?

@ fred
No sir, everyone does NOT need an external keyboard. If we wanted external keyboards, we would have bought a Blackberry, Palm Treo, or WindowsMobile phone (or any other shrunk version of a netbook).
Then again, if we had bought one of those, why even waste time in cult of mac?
Think minimal, that’s what the iphone is about. I bet you also crave a floppy drive…

No no no. I had a PalmTreo and loveded it but I love my iPhone more, BUT here is the deal:
I used to have the coolest folding Bluetooth Keyboard that I could hook to the Treo that allowed me basically never have to use my MacBook for writing. It was way cool and I could do SERIOUS writing with it. A fully functional writing machine in my pocket! The iPhone simply sucks for anything other than a quick note or sms.
I could see the writing on the wall when Apple released the iPhone and it didn’t even have CUT AND PASTE !!!

My favorite iPhone iPod stand is called the Comfort Base from newpcgadgets. It is desktop stand that lets you plug in your charger and has a earphone holder in the back. The black acrylic base is stylish.
