Journalists Cover Microsoft, Using Macs

It’s not an easy time for Microsoft — with Steve Ballmer having to field questions about being “buffoons” and an “evil empire”  at the shareholder’s meeting (.doc) — so when they get together “the world’s most influential technology pundits and online writers” (nb: we weren’t invited) for Mobius to discuss super-secret mobile tech you’d think [...]

Review: Voices Is Today’s Best Thing Ever, Grab It Now While It’s Cheap

New on the App Store is Voices from the clever folk at Tap Tap Tap. You can guess what it does.

Open it up, pick a silly voice. Helium is pretty silly. A microphone appears and the app even clears your throat for you (try it, you’ll see what I mean). Now speak your brains, and [...]

Review: Sony Walkman S540 Series Video MP3 Player

Press releases, you will hardly be surprised to hear, are rarely very interesting. But one arrived in my inbox a couple of weeks ago that made me double-take.
“Sony’s S Series Walkman,” it chattered, “is a serious challenger to the iPod Nano.” Gosh, really? Perhaps the Cult had better have a look at one, then, despite [...]

Report: Don’t Expect Any Big Apple Announcements Today

Apple Mothership

Don’t get out the party hats and sparklers yet, Apple may not have a big announcement today or tomorrow. At least that’s the word from an anonymous source claiming to know Cupertino’s intentions.

“Nope,” was the one-word comment Stuff got when the site attempted to confirm or refute the various rumors swirling online of some hardware announcement.

“We were first told we ‘hadn’t missed any Apple announcements’, and when pressed on if there was any news on events today or tomorrow, we got the simple reply: ‘Nope,’ according to the site.

Just as winter follows fall, announcements from Apple on new products almost always follows quarterly earnings statements. This time, online chatter centers around redesigned iBooks and iMacs, as well as updated Mac minis with server software and a revamped Magic Mouse.

Others serving up speculation include Fake Steve Jobs (Dan Lyons), who Monday commented only that “there’s something brewing.”

Update: Apple’s online store reportedly has gone offline, a supposed sign the Cupertino, Calif. company is stocking the shelves with new goodies.

” … nline chatter centers around redesigned iBooks and iMacs.”

The iBook returns. I think not.

    Magic Mouse? What is that?
I’m more familiar with the “Mighty Mouse”.

Ok, let’s parse the question and answer:

“…when pressed on if there was any news on events today or tomorrow, we got the simple reply: ‘Nope,’ according to the site.”

They asked whether there was “news on events” or possibly even “events,” and they received a “nope.” The question elicited a true answer.

However, there certainly might be new or updated “products” without an “event.”

Gotta ask the right questions to get answers that mean anything.
