Phishing Scam Tries to Hook MobileMe Users

As if Apple’s MobileMe users haven’t enough cause for concern these days, an email-based phishing scam has turned up, tempting users to click on an embedded link to resolve unspecified billing problems.
Reported yesterday by Macworld, the email purports to be from Apple and asks users to “confirm” personal information at a web page that is not affiliated with the company.

Damn, thats a pretty convincing picture.
The best way to avoid these is that if the email says “Dear Customer” or something like that rather than your actual name, be suspicious.

not always true. since they are forms, sometimes you will see both.
it’s the asking for financial info that is the big clue. especially when there is a link. folks need to be trained to skip the link and log in directly and then give the info if it is really needed.
also, I would be tipped off because Mobile me is a yearly gig and my runs out in January. no way would they be asking for a payment right now.
