Tech site H-Online has an interesting story today, quoting security expert Charlie Miller about his forthcoming talk at the CanSecWest conference next week.
He says OS X is full of security holes. There are lots more than in Windows, he claims.

Apple Devotes Entire Home Page To Jerome York Obituary

20100318-york.jpg

If ever you needed a sign that Apple was a different kind of technology company, this is it.
What other computer manufacturer would remove its top-selling, hype-inducing, industry-altering new product from the prime spot on its website home page, and replace it with an obituary to an investor?

Daniel Jalkut has written some of the best comments I’ve ever seen from someone representing their software on blogs out there. I really respect his responsiveness.

I’m continuing to use Windows Live Writer via Parallels, however, because I can’t be without its WYSIWYG editor, auto-links, strong multimedia integration (just paste in a Flash video and it shows), and other unique strengths which make it better suited for my video-heavy blogging.

Torley – I’m glad you appreciate my blog-comment presence. Heh, this is kind of an awkward moment, isn’t it ;)

I appreciate your reasons for preferring Windows Live Writer right now. I can learn a lot from some of the nice things they’ve done facilitating WYSIWYG editing and easy manipulation of media.

Thanks for making such a positive comment about me, even as a non-customer.

I really want to like MarsEdit. Every time they have an update or public beta, I go download the 30 day trial and I craft a few test posts to my blog. And every time, I’ve opted to stick with a plain text editor, the WordPress editor with Google Gears enabled, or Windows Live Writer.

While die hards and purists seem to prefer coding the HTML by hand. That seems like such a painful way to write a blog post. Blog posts aren’t sophisticated web sites, they don’t need carefully crafted HTML. Why wouldn’t you want to see it as you write it? The experience of thinking about tags when you should be focused on content is just so 80s. It reminds me why I absolutely loathe working in LaTeX (even though the output is pretty).

So, while I appreciate the philosophy, I don’t understand why MarsEdit doesn’t include a WYSIWYG editor. It would make the program so much better.
