Journalists Cover Microsoft, Using Macs

It’s not an easy time for Microsoft — with Steve Ballmer having to field questions about being “buffoons” and an “evil empire”  at the shareholder’s meeting (.doc) — so when they get together “the world’s most influential technology pundits and online writers” (nb: we weren’t invited) for Mobius to discuss super-secret mobile tech you’d think [...]

Review: Voices Is Today’s Best Thing Ever, Grab It Now While It’s Cheap

New on the App Store is Voices from the clever folk at Tap Tap Tap. You can guess what it does.

Open it up, pick a silly voice. Helium is pretty silly. A microphone appears and the app even clears your throat for you (try it, you’ll see what I mean). Now speak your brains, and [...]

Review: Sony Walkman S540 Series Video MP3 Player

Press releases, you will hardly be surprised to hear, are rarely very interesting. But one arrived in my inbox a couple of weeks ago that made me double-take.
“Sony’s S Series Walkman,” it chattered, “is a serious challenger to the iPod Nano.” Gosh, really? Perhaps the Cult had better have a look at one, then, despite [...]

Make Fun of Misfits: People of Walmart Looking For iPhone App Developer

The cruel but funny People of Walmart website is looking for a developer to create an iPhone app for the website.

If you’re interested in making an iPhone app to make fun of misfits — and possibly get sued for publishing their unauthorized photographs — contact People of Walmart at info@peopleofwalmart.com.

Surely you’ve seen the viral website, which publishes candid-camera style pictures of the various meth tweakers, rednecks, and other sundry weirdos that frequent the nation’s largest retailer, along with cruelly funny captions.

Just a few weeks old, the site is often down due to server overload. The developers are also looking for a new host that can cope with the traffic.

Not funny at all, actually. A website that mocks poor people. Much easier to get away with than a website that mocks Jews or black people, I guess.

CultOfMac shouldn’t be perpetuating this crap. Sorry, Leander, but you’re getting bumped from Top Sites to never-never-land.

Why so serious? Besides, poor people can’t afford breast implants. Maybe he just likes quality products for low low prices… and their “wide” selection of bras.

Holy damn, his jugs are bigger than mine! I agree with Kiteless, maybe he’s bra shoppping, it doesn’t look like he has proper support. ;)

I agree with Springle. That website is nothing but an atrocious example of classism. It actually makes me want to start shopping at Wal-Mart just to piss off the condescending douche bags that make fun of people who go there. This is definitely one app I hope Apple rejects from the app store.

Alright Jim, Spingle… are you serious?

Look I’m not gonna lie and say I’m not well off or whatever, but I work and live along side with many that are. While there may be somethings you can find for cheaper at wal-mart that you couldn’t find anywhere else, clothing is not one of them. Most of the people that I know who are “poor” go to places like a thrift stores, dollar stores, used clothing shops, Goodwill, Plato’s Closet etc. etc.

Otherwise they have the money to afford to go to places like the local grocery/department store (Meijer here) or other “cheaper” stores like Target (I’ve never really believe that but that’s apparently what people consider it now a days)

Also, I occasionally shop at Wal-Mart as well. I wished that at least half of the customers I normally see there were as wacky, tacky, and all out insane as these people.

Mind you, this website is not making fun of Wal-Mart customers. It’s making fun of the customers it somehow gets. Maybe you guys should actually go to your local Wal-Mart when it’s not that busy…

The site is apparently down! Maybe the Walmart legal people got to it.
