You’ll find a notebook to suit everyone within Apple’s family of notebooks: the entry-level MacBook is perfect for students and casual computer users, the MacBook Air is a blessing to the travelling businessman, and there’s a MacBook Pro fitting for just about everyone. And I’m not the only one who thinks so – Consumer Reports just dealt Apple’s awesome MacBooks a whole lot of love.

If ever there was any argument that Apple’s portables weren’t the best available, that has well and truly been put to bed, as the Cupertino company’s family of MacBooks now takes the top computer spot in every category on Consumer Reports.

The 11-inch MacBook Air that launched back in October picked up 62 points out of 100 to secure the top spot in the small laptops section – beating Gateway’s second-place notebook which scored 56 points, and HP’s third-place notebook which scored 49 points.

In the 13-inch model category, things got even worse for Apple’s competition, with the MacBook Pro well and truly trumping its rivals to steal an impressive five of the top seven spots with 76 points. Sony and Asus took the other two.

Things were a little closer when it comes to 15-inch notebooks, however. The MacBook Pro took the top three spots but the competition trailed closely behind with just a three-point gap. As for the 17-inch model, that took the top two spots while the competition shared the other six.

Unfortunately, to access all the rankings and scores for the MacBooks you’ll need to sign up for a paid subscription to Consumer Reports, but thankfully The Loop relayed all the details for us.
