A New Kind Of Heist: Six Apps For Free

Those crazy MacHeisters are at it again, and this time the deal is even harder to resist.
The first ever MacHeist Nano won’t cost you a penny. You can download, without charge, fully licensed copies of ShoveBox, WriteRoom, Twitterific, TinyGrab, and Hordes of Orcs. If 500,000 people take part (which I think is a pretty safe [...]

Getting More iPhone Home Screens – And Keeping Them

A couple of weeks back, I wrote Temporarily Get More iPhone Home Screens Via Cunning Bug Exploit, but had heard staying away from the iTunes Applications tab within my iPhone was probably a Very Good Idea. Reader Larry Pressnell noted that since the most recent iTunes update, his extra screens have been accessible in iTunes.

Cult of Mac Favorite: MobileStacks Is the Best Reason To Jailbreak. Period.

I really like Stacks on my Mac. Stacks makes it fast and easy to find files, folders and apps right from the Dock. It makes managing a Mac pretty slick with all sorts of little UI tricks. That’s why I recently gave MobileStack a go on my jailbroken iPhone.
I must say that it lives up to the [...]

Gallery: Behind the Scenes From Two Classic Apple TV Ads

Is this Steve Jobs driving a tank in a classic Apple TV spot from the late 1990s? That was the rumor at the time: Jobs was making cameos in Apple commercials.
Ken Segall, the TBWA ad man responsible for naming the iMac and Think Different, reveals the truth after the jump. He also shares some rare [...]

MacBook Nano – Work of Art or Crime Against Nature?

Flickr user Mickphoto has put up a couple of extensive photosets showing how he hacked an MSI Wind to turn it into an Apple “netbook” he calls the MacBook Nano.

Many have expressed a desire for a small, super-portable Apple notebook and Mickphoto’s creation has a certain je ne sais quoi that’s sure to get the notice of Apple enthusiasts – if not the Apple legal department – and keep the netbook conversation going.

Click on a few shots in the gallery below and visit Mickphoto’s Flickr pages for more. Is this Apple evangelism, a labor of love, or is it over-the-top? Let us know your thoughts about the MacBook Nano in comments.

The black ones good. The white one sucks

I like them. I would love to see a low priced small ultraportable. I cant justify spending all that money on an air, but would like something portable and light also.

they’re pretty slick. if apple made one, i’d get one.

Hopefully, this Macinhack and a number of others on the web will inspire Apple to bring out their own model. The size would be perfect for someone wanting something lighter than the standard laptop.

Have to admit, that’s pretty swanky. :)

I like the white one. The black always seemed to me a more “pc-like” notebook.
I think if I HAD to buy a pc, I’d install Mac OS X in it, even with the update problems.. anything’s better than Windows.
(When I say “if I had to buy a pc” I mean if I had to use only this tipe of computers at work, or if I desperately needed a tiny tiny tiny netbook to travel with. However, I’d do my best to buy a mac, with no complains.)

To me it IS a labor of love! It’s like dressing your kid as a jedi in his second birthday because you are a fan of star wars..

Last comment: my personal opinion on a possible Macbook Nano is: there won’t be a macbook nano. It will be a smaller version of the macbook air, costing more-or-less like a macbook, but with a 9 inch display and a processor slower than my grandma.
It’s like the iPod: in 2001, it costed 500 bucks, and it held only 1000 songs. Today, the nano holds 2000 songs and costs 150 bucks, but there’s the classic that holds a lot more and costs a lot more and the shuffle that holds almost nothing and costs almost nothing.

Cool. I might make one myself.
