If ever you needed a sign that Apple was a different kind of technology company, this is it.
What other computer manufacturer would remove its top-selling, hype-inducing, industry-altering new product from the prime spot on its website home page, and replace it with an obituary to an investor?
This is one of those “Here’s to the [...]

What’s Next For the iPad? A Tabletop iPad, According to Xerox PARC Circa 1991

Way back in 1991, just as Apple was transitioning from 68k to PowerPC chips, the braniacs at Xerox PARC were predicting it’s entire iPod, iPhone and iPad strategy. And next up for the iPad is a blackboard-sized device.
Nearly 20 years ago, just as personal desktop computers were taking off, researchers at Xerox started thinking about [...]

“Leaked” iPod Case Images Hint at Photo Upgrade

ipodtouchg3_520x405

New leaked photos of iPod cases hint Apple may reveal a new feature: cameras. That appears to be the suggestion from supposed first pictures of iPods Cupertino is expected to announced later today.

The photos from Asian iPod accessories maker Cygnette show an iPod touch case with a lens on the reverse and what Gadget Lab surmises as a “dedicated shutter release” button. The iPod nano images show a taller device.

The veracity of the images are in question with some reports cautioning the pictures could have been Photoshopped combinations of previous iPhone and iPod cases. However, we include the photos and a link to Cygnette for you to decide.

Oh dear…that’s just an iPhone horribly photoshopped to add a fake camera, Wi-Fi plastic patch, and iPod touch home screen.

Earpiece? No need for one on the touch. Silence/vibrate switch above the rocker? That’s an iPhone. It certainly appears much more like the thickness of an iPhone than a touch as well.

If the photo is purported to be of a “iPod” case, whey does it have the iPhone’s earpiece at the top?

The “iPod” in the photo above has a speaker above the screen. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that an iPhone only feature?

Unless they’re integrating a speaker and mic for VOIP?

I guess we’ll find out soon enough anyway…

Where is the camera icon within the honescreen? Fake!

I don’t remember an iPod Touch ever having a silence switch either… or silver buttons… or a plastic back. I call bull**** :) lol

Funny how many sites are posting these images because the screen says ipod. As other commenters have stated there are a ton of things wrong with the images to suggest that it is just an iphone and not an ipod: 1. Speaker above screen. 2. Silver buttons and silence switch. 3. Antenna on top of the device. The wifi antenna on an ipod is actually at the bottom of the device. and I think most importantly 4. the OS apparently hadn’t been updated on that device. The background behind the four icons on the bottom is nothing like OS 3.0. There should be gradating dots behind the icons.

How desperate are these rumor sites to get a “valid” rumor up first?

Not to mention, we take a black iphone picture and photoshop the camera from a white iphone… last time i recall the ipod touches didnt even have plastic backing.. FAIL

I am hoping to find another job fast, but we all know how that is. ,
