20100319-ipwned.jpg

Tech site H-Online has an interesting story today, quoting security expert Charlie Miller about his forthcoming talk at the CanSecWest conference next week.
He says OS X is full of security holes. There are lots more than in Windows, he claims.
And yet: OS X is a safer system to use. Why? Because, in the words [...]

Apple Devotes Entire Home Page To Jerome York Obituary

20100318-york.jpg

If ever you needed a sign that Apple was a different kind of technology company, this is it.
What other computer manufacturer would remove its top-selling, hype-inducing, industry-altering new product from the prime spot on its website home page, and replace it with an obituary to an investor?
This is one of those “Here’s to the [...]

“I’ve Turned My Mac Into A…”

doorstop-20090116.jpg

Jake of 8bitjoystick.com: I use my old Mac SE as a door stopper. I know that’s blasphemy.

Rott3npeanut: I’ve turned my Mac into a PC so I can use it to record.

Giant Pangolin: I turned my Mac into a half-Mac, half-PC for only $159.

SAL-E: I use my old Mac as a grandfather clock

trevyn: I use my old Mac for running Indigo.

Come on, kids. Confess. What do you use your old Mac for? (No file/print/music servers please; something more interesting. The weirder the better.)

I use my old iMac G3 as: a Netboot server for Leopard Install DVD, Tiger Install DVD and a a troubleshooting install of Tiger 10.4.11. :D

You people are a bunch of fucking idiots! This website should be shut down!

I keep my G3 300 mHz Wallstreet Powerbook under my desk. On really hot days in the summer, I rest my feet on it. The cool metal on my feet is pleasant on a hot day.

When I’m feeling nostalgic for OS9, I boot it up and muck around with the settings. It can handle OSX up to Jaguar, but who needs Jaguar when you’ve got OS9?

Why are there so many litter boxes in that picture?

I don’t have an old Mac I just switched to Mac last spring.

I use G3 PPC’s (the mickey mouse versions) as chairs. Very nice to sit on and easy to move. With a little artistic pillows, made of different old jeans, the are a piece of Art for me. As well as the other Macs that are standing all around as decoration.
I don’t have much money for Macs, so I buy them secondhand now and them when I find them cheap enough. But they are a all a piece of art for me.

I don’t have an old mac yet, but I’m sure that the cat bed solution is always cute:
