It’s time for our weekly digest of tiny iPhone reviews, courtesy of iPhoneTiny.com, with some extra commentary exclusive to Cult of Mac.
This time, we review ToyPlanes, GOALS! Pro, Bejeweled 2, Jungle Crash Land and Boulder Dash Vol 1.
APP OF THE WEEK

Jewel-smashing action in Bejeweled 2
Bejeweled 2 v1.2.1: Update to the responsive, pretty jewel-swap game, now with addictive one-min ‘blitz’ mode. 5/5 $2.99 http://is.gd/6gHmL
ToyPlanes: Utterly pointless ‘toy’ with three aircraft pictures and accelerometer-driven audio. 1/5 $0.99 http://is.gd/60Phf
GOALS! Pro: Overhead footie. Fun, but simple (no cards/height/league). Worth a buck, but don’t expect too much. 3/5 $0.99 http://is.gd/67BYr
Jungle Crash Land: Cute, playable Blitz update with surprising depth and variation throughout its levels. 4/5 Free http://is.gd/6jPwX
Boulder Dash Vol 1: Classic 1980s arcade game, marred by incorrect cave speeds, clumsy controls & high price. 2/5 $4.99 http://is.gd/6jS9y
All games this week, and scores across the entire range of ratings. Towards the top of the pile, Jungle Crash Land, an endearing Blitz clone from the underappreciated Donut Games. People rattle on about Gameloft, EA, Firemint, ngmoco, et al, but Donut Games quietly continues releasing cracking titles, including Rat On The Run, Cows In Space (#6 in iPhoneTiny.com’s top ten games of 2009) and Lucky Coins. Jungle Crash Land is another fine effort. Using the ancient Blitz (drop bombs from your slowly crashing place on hazards below you, to clear a landing strip) as a foundation, but adds colourful graphics, power-ups and an amusing iCopter-style minigame.
This time, though, Donut Games got beaten to app of the week by PopCap, and that’s solely because I’m totally addicted to Bejeweled 2’s new Blitz mode. This takes the form of the standard game, but gives you just a minute to frantically score as many points as possible. Scores are uploaded to Facebook, so you can gloat at or hide from friends accordingly.

Jungle Crash Land…really fun game…I’ve spent the past few days playing it and its really fun. There is also a bit of strategy involved in the higher levels. I highly recommend it! And its free.

Yea agree Donut games is becoming one of my favourite developers, some great games in their arsenal, only negative is some could do with new levels, but I am sure they will come.

I find it amazing how little press those guys get. As for more levels, I sort of agree, but that’s only because the game’s I’ve finished were addictive enough for me to cane through. Plus I picked up most of the games for a buck or less. I think Lucky Coins was 59p (99 cents), and yet it gave me hours of top-notch entertainment.
