A New Kind Of Heist: Six Apps For Free

Those crazy MacHeisters are at it again, and this time the deal is even harder to resist.
The first ever MacHeist Nano won’t cost you a penny. You can download, without charge, fully licensed copies of ShoveBox, WriteRoom, Twitterific, TinyGrab, and Hordes of Orcs. If 500,000 people take part (which I think is a pretty safe [...]

Getting More iPhone Home Screens – And Keeping Them

A couple of weeks back, I wrote Temporarily Get More iPhone Home Screens Via Cunning Bug Exploit, but had heard staying away from the iTunes Applications tab within my iPhone was probably a Very Good Idea. Reader Larry Pressnell noted that since the most recent iTunes update, his extra screens have been accessible in iTunes.

Cult of Mac Favorite: MobileStacks Is the Best Reason To Jailbreak. Period.

I really like Stacks on my Mac. Stacks makes it fast and easy to find files, folders and apps right from the Dock. It makes managing a Mac pretty slick with all sorts of little UI tricks. That’s why I recently gave MobileStack a go on my jailbroken iPhone.
I must say that it lives up to the [...]

Is this Steve Jobs driving a tank in a classic Apple TV spot from the late 1990s? That was the rumor at the time: Jobs was making cameos in Apple commercials.

iPhone 2.2 Homepage Shortcut

Have you loaded up so many apps on your iPhone you’re now pushing the nine screen limit? Do you ever want to just get back to your home Home screen and wish you didn’t have to start swiping screens back across the phone face?

The latest update to iPhone software 2.2 has a nice little feature built in that will take you home – just push the “Home” button.

So simple. Surprising, actually it took ‘em this many updates to load that one in, but thanks, Apple!

    How do you know that?
Didn’t they say that they work down the priority list ?!

As with copy&past, down at the list.

    a welcome feature

What I wish for is the ability to scroll in either direction. How crazy is it that I have to scroll 9 pages to get to my last app page when I could just scroll one page in the other direction?

Do you know that you just have to tap the small white dots to go from screen to screen?

Unfortunately you still have to go from 1 through 8 to get to 9, but I feel that is is a bit less cumbersome than swiping.

Would be nice with a way to scroll directly to last page, for example by holding the home button and scrolling the reverse way. Tried it – doesn’t work…

Very nice addition, I have to admit. I was starting to get a little annoyed after about three pages of apps. Nine is the limit? Wow. :D
