Journalists Cover Microsoft, Using Macs

It’s not an easy time for Microsoft — with Steve Ballmer having to field questions about being “buffoons” and an “evil empire”  at the shareholder’s meeting (.doc) — so when they get together “the world’s most influential technology pundits and online writers” (nb: we weren’t invited) for Mobius to discuss super-secret mobile tech you’d think [...]

Review: Voices Is Today’s Best Thing Ever, Grab It Now While It’s Cheap

New on the App Store is Voices from the clever folk at Tap Tap Tap. You can guess what it does.

Open it up, pick a silly voice. Helium is pretty silly. A microphone appears and the app even clears your throat for you (try it, you’ll see what I mean). Now speak your brains, and [...]

Review: Sony Walkman S540 Series Video MP3 Player

Press releases, you will hardly be surprised to hear, are rarely very interesting. But one arrived in my inbox a couple of weeks ago that made me double-take.
“Sony’s S Series Walkman,” it chattered, “is a serious challenger to the iPod Nano.” Gosh, really? Perhaps the Cult had better have a look at one, then, despite [...]

Naughty_Dice_Combined

News of Apple’s refusal to allow 17+ app promo codes broke with this Cult of Mac interview with James Miller, Director of Marketing for Trichotomy Media. Naughty LOADED Dice, a foreplay game with a secret menu to dictate dice rolls, snuck past the Apple censors and made its way onto our iPhones and into our bedrooms.

In a recent email to Cult of Mac, Trichotomy Media attributed our coverage of the promo code refusal as instrumental in their reinstatement. To celebrate free love and free iPhone apps, we’re giving away a Naughty LOADED Dice promo code.

Yay for comments and free codes!

I vote Hitler… he’s definitely high up there on that list!

Is there scratch and sniff too? I think this app could be fun. My pick for favorite fascist is: Obama

    Thanks

    Joseph goebbels :-(

I think I would have to go with George bush he was about the worst of them

    Fidel Castro

    George Bush!!!!!!!!!!

    O O O Me! Me! I want one! hahaha

Aaaar!! I’m in for this fantastic contest!

    Stalin. Code now please :D

    Che Guevara

Now we can all roll the dice… of life. ;)

George Bush.. saw it above and it made me LOL!

    Timur aka Tamerlan

I’d go with Darth Vader… Evil, but kinda cool at the same time!

I vote for myself and Fidel! Ill also give Adolf an honorable mention…maybe Stalin and that creepy guy from North Korea too.

Captain Barbosa – “I am disinclined to acquiesce to your request”

Steve Jobs is still my favorite dictator. I think he should rule the world.

    Go ….. Pol Pot!

    Joseph Stalin
    Oh noes! (code plz)

    Genghis Khan. WooHoo!!

    I’ll throw in for Diocletian.

People don’t even know what Fascism is. Don’t call out presidents fascists. That said, my favorite was Mussolini.

    Me, please!!

    another vote for Pol Pot

    South Korea’s Myung-Bak Lee(a. k. a 2MB)
He is South Korea’s one of WORST President of ALL TIME!
(Also, He is Very Similar to Kim Jong-il:-(

    I am Italian, so Berlusconi

Very cool that your article got the app reinstated.

Obama, definitely the supreme facist, marxist, socialist.

Humm this is a hard one. I will have to go with suppressor of freedom. Still not an easy choice but I have narrowed my choices to one of the following:

Galacticus. (see silver surfer) certainly fits this bill I mean he eats worlds!

Ra’s al Ghul from batman is another one but he just wants to kill everyone, well almost everyone.

and of course Lex Luthor, enough said.

    Popes Pius XI, XII

Im not sure he could be classed as a dictator in the usual sense, but Freddie Mercury from the band Queen was quite simply one of the best singers of all time, and had a part to play in dictating music videos is the way to go with their huge hit, Bohemian Rhapsody.

I was kind of ‘thinking outside the box’ with that. lol.

Another absolute legend, is quite simply STEVE JOBS!!! Dictator of all things at apple, and an absolute legend. He’ll go down in history as one of the best CEO’s and product ideas man ever.

Hitler is the stereo-type of ‘dictator’.

My son in about 20 years!

    Roger Waters

    Emperor Caligula…..

    I love Pol Pot!

    Tito of Yugoslavia!

I vote Gumby. It just wasn’t right the way he bossed Pokey around.

    Gaius Baltar

Not favorite, but first to come to mind – Hitler.

    Tom Cruise…what?

How about Hugo Chavez? All that oil AND all those venezuelan beauties!

those crazy church ladies who were burning the Harry Potter books.

    I’ll go with me.

    Woo-hoo! Ready to roll!

how about Big Brother from 1984 !

    Great blog!

One of the worst tyrannical despots has to be King Leopold of Belgium.

(King Leopold’s atrocities in the Belgian Congo were realistically fictionalized in Josef Conrad’s novella “Heart of Darkness,” which in turn was the inspiration for Coppola’s “Apocalypse Now.”)

Favorite dictator? I don’t have one.

    Abraham Lincoln

I’m gonna go with Steve Jobs. In his “Bad Steve” persona.

Joseph Stalin, the others are school yard bullies in comparison,.

The KKK for creativeness in wearing white sheets like ghosts.

    Sticky Sweet…

Right. I know I can’t qualify for the contest, but thought someone should mention “bonfire of the vanites” bookburner Savonarola. http://urlzen.com/u7z
We’re leaning a little heavy on the dictators, no?

Apple of course, for censoring apps content while at the same time masquerading as the epitome of cool. Macs are cool, iPods are cool, OSX is cool, iPhones are cool, but Apple has lost its coolnes factor for giving in to the imagined outrage of unimaginative and uncool people.

Dice, Kissing, turn-ons, kinda like Vegas baby….what happens in…..stays in……
