Email ‘N Go Is Perfect For Emailing ‘N Driving

When I’m barrelling down the freeway in my four-ton Land Rover, I like to check Google Maps on my iPhone and email my friends. Trouble is, I can’t see where I’m going.
Email ‘N Walk, a new super-clever iPhone app, offers the perfect solution.
It uses the iPhone’s camera to display on screen what’s up ahead. It’s designed for pedestrians — to stop them walking into lampposts as they read or send email — but it’d work in automotive settings too.
Shame it doesn’t work for text , Web browsing, maps, or video, but it’s a start.

If you’re serious that you email while driving, any vehicle, then I hope the local police visit you real soon now (as Jerry Pournelle put it in BYTE many years ago). There already too many deaths caused by drivers texting for you implicitly to encourage drivers to email.
Think about it.

This is nonsense! Who are these fascist d-holes to tell us what to do!!! The same Constitution that gives me the right to complain about my religion not being respected as the default for everyone else, and the right to carry a shotgun in the rack next to my 3-year-old’s car seat, gives me the right to text, email, watch YouTube videos, and shop online (helping the economy!!!!!) while I’m driving. That’s freedom of expression, tards! What part of “Congress shall make no….” … … … oops, I think I’m in someone’s living room…

Re Sviergn’s comment; what relevance has the law of just one of the world’s 200+ countries to a global web site like this one? There is a world out there, dude, and most countries don’t let you carry a shotgun next to your three year old’s car seat, thank goodness.
As for religion, any decent one requires you to care for others’ well-being, and texting and emailing while you drive is antithetical to that responsibility.

You’re so right, Stuart. I stand corrected. (I suppose I would “stand” corrected, except I’m still driving while I’m typing this. Whoo hoo!!! Just missed that pedestrian! Thank goodness for this app!) Your sage advice about religion and the existence of other countries has brought me newfound knowledge. Which reminds me, how soon till iClue is available from the App Store?
(Seriously, if the part about me having driven into someone’s living room while typing on my phone didn’t clue you in that this was a joke, making fun of pompous ‘Mericans whose personal freedom is more important to them than common sense and social responsibility, what WOULD have driven that point home? A sixteen-ton weight? Come on!)
