Journalists Cover Microsoft, Using Macs

It’s not an easy time for Microsoft — with Steve Ballmer having to field questions about being “buffoons” and an “evil empire”  at the shareholder’s meeting (.doc) — so when they get together “the world’s most influential technology pundits and online writers” (nb: we weren’t invited) for Mobius to discuss super-secret mobile tech you’d think [...]

Review: Voices Is Today’s Best Thing Ever, Grab It Now While It’s Cheap

New on the App Store is Voices from the clever folk at Tap Tap Tap. You can guess what it does.

Open it up, pick a silly voice. Helium is pretty silly. A microphone appears and the app even clears your throat for you (try it, you’ll see what I mean). Now speak your brains, and [...]

Review: Sony Walkman S540 Series Video MP3 Player

Press releases, you will hardly be surprised to hear, are rarely very interesting. But one arrived in my inbox a couple of weeks ago that made me double-take.
“Sony’s S Series Walkman,” it chattered, “is a serious challenger to the iPod Nano.” Gosh, really? Perhaps the Cult had better have a look at one, then, despite [...]

Back to Basics iPhone Dock

nuts-and-bolts-iPhone-dock_1

Lovely DIY iPhone stand from Geeky Gadgets reader Frederick Weller. I’d gladly put on on my bedside table if I weren’t too lazy to make my own.

I don’t know how many of those ugly DIY iphone stands have been posted on this page by now. What I DO know is, that no one – especially not a mac user, who obviously cares about design – would like to have any of such on his or her desk. If I would weigh price over design or usability I would have bought a f***ing PC.

So – be they made of old banana shells or rosty nails – please stop wasting time and posting those useless objects. Who would try building one of those anyway?

That’s so cool that people can make their own stands out of stuff that they have around the house. I’d make my own but I have no idea what I would use! I think it’s really creative, and makes a personal, artistic statement.

And to paul. Get off your “high horse” and realize that this person is creative. Obviously your too ritzy and stuck up to notice that maybe this person didn’t want to be in the norm and have everything looking the same as everybody else.

Paul, you are stuck up! Get over yourself!! I agree with Mike, this is a creative use of materials. As someone who can only afford an iPod Touch and doesn’t have the money to buy an iHome, too, I think it is very resourceful! As someone who wishes could make something as ingenious as this, I applaud the creator.

    Reduce, reuse, recycle… it’s perfect!

Paul I hope someone makes a key out of what they have laying around the house and uses it to key your car, jerk.

To all those nay-sayers, atleast they got off their asses and made something. I think anyone who makes this stuff and is happy with it are definately doing the hobby justice. Go for it!
