Entrepreneur’s Guide To Customer Development eBook [$25 Freebie]

By

ebook

While I’ve been involved in a lot of start ups, I’ve never started one of my own. Frankly, I don’t think I’m really the entrepreneur type. Which is okay, because not everyone can (or should) be. That said, I do believe there is a lot to learn from the entrepreneur mindset and process.

One of the key parts to all businesses are gaining and understanding your customers. This, however, is something that alludes a lot of us. I’m thinking that this free ebook might be able to help—The Entrepreneur’s Guide To Enhanced Customer Development: This Free Ebook is a Must-Read for All Entrepreneurs.

Six Great Bottles Of Wine For Half Off [Deals]

By

wpid-Photo-2012-10-03-956-AM.jpg

You know what the real secret is to developing a taste and palette for great wine? It's trying a lot of wine and just learning what you like and don't like. I'm pretty lucky that I live about a 5 hour drive from one of North America's best wine regions—The Okanagan Valley. My wife and I try to go about once a year to go to our favorite winneries and try a few new things. Of course we also tend to bring back a lot of wine as well.

You might not be so lucky. You might not live close to a wine region or you just have a little trepidation about going wine tasting (believe me the science and geekiness of wine making is amazing in itself!). So what then? Okay, well how about you get to pick 6 bottles of wine and have them shipped to you? And you get help picking them out too. Now that's a deal. Oh wait, that is today's dealPremium Wine Delivered From Club W.

Clean Up iTunes with TuneUp [Ends Today!]

By

itunes640

My iTunes collection is a mess. Ripped CDs, music transferred through home sharing, obscure collections, and then there is the classical and opera that I enjoy. Gee I wish there was a way to fix all the “Track 1 by Unknown Artist” music that I have. And duplicates. Yeah I have some when I pulled in whole albums but already had a few singles. I’m not a huge cover art fan, but gray boxes are boring. I wish I could fix them…

Oh wait—Cleanup Your iTunes With TuneUp: Clean & Organize Your iTunes Music Collection in Just a Few Clicks

P.S. My iTunes is still a mess…maybe I need to get my stuff together…

Robocopter GST Special Edition [Deals]

By

Robocopter_GST_S_501fe233c562e

Ready for take off? Maybe fly a little radio controlled helicopter around the office? Buzz over marketing. Hover by the coffee area. Take a break in the parking lot or a park. Yep, these little RC copters are very cool.

Last Christmas we had these in an Apple retailer I was working at (different brand and packaging, but pretty much identical copters) and with a little practice, these are really fun to fly around. In fact so fun that I’ve thought about picking up one for myelf just to mess around with. Well maybe here’s my chance—Fly High With The Robocopter GST Special Edition: Have Fun Flying a Powerful Toy Helicopter Around Your Office

BodyGuardz Moxy Earbuds With Mic [Ending Soon]

By

medium_bodyguardz-stacksocial-earjax-moxy

Oh sure now Apple decides to improve their ear buds! I haven’t tried them, but I’m not convinced. Regardless of the hype around the new Apple earbuds (I’ll have to try the new design, right now my Apple ear buds are purely “backup” when all other options aren’t available), I think it’s worth checking out earbuds from folks who just do earbuds.

We’ve had BodyGaurdz here before, but I think this is the first time we’ve had a pair with a mic—BodyGuardz Moxy Earbuds With Mic—which is a must-have for me. See I don’t want to carry a set of earbuds for music and something else for calls (or worse have to use the iPhone or iPad mic for calls when using earbuds). It’s about having a compact kit, you know?

Four Months Of Coffee Samples For $30 [Deal Ending]

By

How MistoBox Works - Coffee Sample Subscription Box- MistoBox

Mmm coffee. I start my day with a triple Americano that I make at home (Nespresso FTW), but weekends I often make a pot of coffee. Maybe a nice French press pot or the classic auto-drip. There is one thing for sure, you can’t make a good pot of coffee if the coffee you buy is crap.

We all have our favorite coffees we buy as a treat to ourselves, how about finding and trying some new ones for a few months! How about a sample of four coffees a month for you to try? I’m craving another mug myself just thinking about this deal—Sample Delicious Coffee With MistoBox: Get 4 Micro-Roasted & Fresh Whole Bean Coffee Samples Delivered to Your Doorstep Every Month for 4 Months

$5 Friday: BLT Website Link Checker [Deals]

By

medium_bltnew

Oh how I dread broken links on the websites I make. Back in the day it was a lot easier to botch a link, today with WP and other awesomeness it’s harder… but not impossible. Of course, if you’re still creating sites old school you need to have a good link checker handy.

So how about one for $5? Yep we have BLT link checker on sale for $5. What’s that? A latte? An Americano and a scone? Balance the caffeine with knowing that your client isn’t going to find a broken link on the site you just finished. Thought so.

SoL® Hybrid Battery Pack for iPhone 4/4S [Deals]

By

sol640

For those of us not obsessively checking delivery status for iPhone 5s, here is a power pack for the iPhone 4/4S that might strike your fancy—Stay Charged With The SoL Hybrid Power Pack.

I have a couple different battery packs (I’m giving an extra to a friend), but they charge the “old fashioned way” through a USB cable to the wall (or computer, but you know). A solar charger certainly has a lot of appeal. You can just leave it charging cells up and keep it topped up all day. Very cool.

Treehouse Web And iOS Development Courses [Ends Today]

By

wpid-Photo-2012-09-04-957-AM.jpg
You know by now, because I’ve been posting here a good bit, that I’m an educator as well as an author and writer. This means that anything to do with learning catches my eye—especially courses to help people learn new skills. Today we have a deal from Treehouse to get a month of their Gold Plan for $25 so you can learn to code, well, a lot of different things. This is awesome, of course, but what caught my eye about Treehouse is a very cool bonus:

Closed captioning. This wouldn’t have even pinged on my radar if it wasn’t for an email I received from a reader not long ago. Let me tell you about it.

Crossover IX Bundle 10 Hardworking Apps For $50! [Ends Tomorrow]

By

crossover 640

I know it’s a slow news day and all. Not like anything was announced or anything…

Anyway, let’s talk Windows. Since we got BootCamp way, way back … and then Parallels and VMWare Fusion (and before that anyone remember the Orange cards you’d install to run Windows on a Mac?) Mac users have been trying to find the best way to run Windows apps on their Macs. Yeah we love our Macs, but sometimes we have to use a Windows app. Personally I’ve always gone the Parallels/VMWare route, I’ve tried Wine a couple times but it couldn’t run the apps I wanted/needed. Now there’s a commercialized version of Wine called Crossover XI and guess what? It’s part of a new bundle we’ve got!

Paradox iPod nano Stainless Steel Watch Band Kit [Deals-Ending Soon!]

By

paradox640

If you have one of the new touch-screen iPod nanos, then you know one of the cooler things you can do with it is to wear it as a watch. I mean all it needs is a front-facing camera and you have a Dick Tracy watch!

Of course one of the problems I’ve seen with iPod nano bands (remember I worked for an Apple retailer for a while and I saw lots and lots of samples) is that they just look…terrible. Most of the time the band is just a pop in-pop out kind of system that makes the watch band more of a wrist-mounted carry strap than a real watch band. This Paradox watch kit seems to be a horse of a different color. A kit that gives you the power of your nano in the sleekness of a watch. Hmm.

NKMOS Ultima: World’s Finest Universal Car Mount – On Sale [Deal-Ending Soon!]

By

ULTIMA-640

I don’t know about where you live, but here in British Columbia holding your cell phone in your hand to talk or text while driving is a no-no. The “I was just answering my kids, officer.” doesn’t hold water either. Now hands free options are everywhere. I made sure my wife has a car mount in her car. So she can see who is calling or keep directions up on screen. We’ve gone through several options and you know they all break. Why? Because they can’t adapt to the fact that people keep their iPhones in cases.

I think we have a solution to that problem with the NKMOS Universal car mount.

Mac App Blocker Protects Your Apps [Deals]

By

wpid-Photo-2012-09-07-946-AM.jpg

We all—or should—password protect our Macs. Start up, login. Come out of sleep, login. Deactivate the screensaver, login (though technically that’s just unlocking). What about “fire up Chrome” or “start up Evernote”? We don’t usually think about entering a password to do those tasks. Maybe we should.

Mac App Blocker is, frankly, a new one on my. It’s an app that lets you set application passwords. Launch Mail, enter a password. Chrome…Evernote…Word… you get the idea. Interesting, huh?

NoteBook for Mac by Circus Ponies [Deal Ending!]

By

NoteBook640

Where do you take notes? I mean on your Mac. Notebook apps are a thing of mine. So today’s deal for NoteBook by Circus Ponies certainly got my attention. I took a look at it (how could I not and you know I’m pretty impressed. Sure, fine, Evernote is a behemoth in the note taking world. It’s also not the best note taking app though. It has a lot of limitations that bug me. What I like about NoteBook is that it’s task focused. You create notebooks based on what you’re starting point is. Writing a paper, starting a project, or just keeping a journal you get a nice, organized starting point.

Keep Your iPhone Charged With A Solar Battery Pack

By

Monster Watts 640

Raise your hand if your iPhone has run out of juice at the worst possible time? Yeah, I’m sure that’s most of you. Certainly me. That’s why I have a battery pack case for my iPhone. While it’s good, it does have a little flaw—I still need to plug it in to charge.

Now a solar pack can help eliminate some of this need. No, not all, but let’s say, a lot. The Monster Watts case acts not just as a batter pack, but it has solar panels so you can recharge your phone wherever the Sun shines!
