Apple just announced its all-new Final Cut Pro X video editing software, which is now available from the Mac App Store today along with Motion 5 and Compressor 4.

Final Cut Pro X isn’t just an update to Final Cut Pro 7, despite its familiar name, but rather a whole new application that has been completely reinvented and built from the ground up.

Apple’s press release reads:

Apple® today announced Final Cut Pro® X, a revolutionary new version of the world’s most popular Pro video editing software which completely reinvents video editing with a Magnetic Timeline that lets you edit on a flexible, trackless canvas; Content Auto-Analysis that categorizes your content upon import by shot type, media and people; and background rendering that allows you to work without interruption. Built on a modern 64-bit architecture, Final Cut Pro X is available from the Mac® App Store™ for $299.99.

Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, said professionals love the new Final Cut Pro software:

Final Cut Pro X is the biggest advance in Pro video editing since the original Final Cut Pro. We have shown it to many of the world’s best Pro editors, and their jaws have dropped.

In addition to Final Cut Pro X, the Motion 5 and Compressor 4 companion applications are also available on the Mac App Store from today, priced at $49 each.

We’ll be diving into Final Cut Pro X over the next couple of days to see what’s new and write our review, but what new feature of Apple’s pro video editing suite are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments.
