Apple New ‘Americana’ Location Will Reboot The Apple Store Experience To 2.0

If you’d like a glimpse into the Apple Store 2.0 concept, drop by the tech giant’s new Americana at Brand location opening this weekend in Glendale, Calif. Just a stone’s throw from Apple’s Glendale Galleria site, the 14,000 square-foot site makes it one of the iPad maker’s largest mall storefronts.

The Glendale store breaks from Apple’s traditionally silver facade for one made completely of glass. The Americana Genius Bar includes more than 50 seats, making it one of the company’s largest, according to reports. Additionally, the store adopts Apple’s new retailing language, reserving tables for its Startup Sessions, which morphed from the current Personal Setup system.

The most visible advance may be the use of iPad’s for store signage. Other changes reportedly planned include dedicating half of the store’s space to repairs, offices and break rooms. In another area, Apple store workers can consult with small business customers.

The Glendale store opens at 10 am Pacific, so in just an hour, we should have a good idea of what the Apple Store 2.0 experience will really look like when it isn’t being retrofitted on older stores.
