Apple’s Black Friday Deals: 25% Off Macs, 30% Off iPods (Maybe)
7:56 pm, November 16th, 2009, Leander Kahney

Boy Genius Report has obtained details of Apple’s Black Friday deals — maybe. The site was sent an email flyer, due to go out shortly, that says Apple will offer 25% off all Macs; 30% off iPods (except the iPhone and iPod shuffle); and 15% all accessories as well as Apple software and hardware.
These deals look pretty killer. Maybe too killer. BGR cautions that it’s “unconfirmed.”
BGR says the deals are good only for November 27th, and that Apple stores will open at 6AM.

I would TOTALLY buy a new laptop for 25% off.

Wrong.

Well, I’m not too excited yet; it only says “up to 25%”…
I’d give my firstborn child for 25% off a MacBook Pro I want, though!
skucera, on November 16th, 2009 at 10:11 pm
As per usual.. crap no one wants 25% off.. stuff you want. 5% off.

I hope this is true, because I’m ready to pull the trigger on a new laptop. I doubt any new models will be 25% off, but they might have old iMacs or old Macbooks for 25%, which would be a great deal as well. Or maybe they’ll have refurb Macbook Pro unibodies for 25% off? Who knows.

This ad is so off brand for Apple, it can’t be real.
• The red ribbon down the side is far too messy and poorly done.
• The snowflake bullet points are also messy, and Apple doesn’t do bullet points on in-store advertisements such as this.
• Apple would never refer to “…accessories, Apple software and Apple Hardware because the only other item in the store that is made by Apple that is not a computer, iPod or iPhone is the Apple TV.
• Apple would not be so typographically messy as to have a superscript “am”, nor would they leave the dangling period after it. That looks awkward.
• Apple would not boldify™ OR CAPS LOCK “NEW” because that looks silly.
• Apple would not refer to the iPhone as the “Apple iPhone.” That’s awkward and they leave that for Microsoft (Microsoft Office Word 2009).
• The double “f” in shuffle would have a ligature connecting the two hooks of the “f.”
Someone just wanted to start rumors and figured they could make something that looks close enough to be believable. Unfortunately, they don’t have the design taste of one of the world’s top brands.

Seems fake to me.
Apple doesn’t have to do this.

UP TO n% off…
Don’t expect much.
And Leander – check your facts before you hit “send”..

I’m not getting my hopes up too much either, but in Leander’s defense, he clearly reiterates that this is “unconfirmed” so I wouldn’t get on his case too bad for lack of fact-checking. It’s a Mac blog site for god sakes not CNN.

Gotta think this is fake. Just got back from the newly configured store in Albany, NY. At 10:30 on a Tuesday morning, 30 customers in the place, Genius Bar busy. If they’re packing them in at the Albany store, I can’t imagine why they would mark down product on what is sure to be the one of the busiest days of the year.
Having written that, I’m all over a new 27″ iMac if they’re 25% off.

Wait, but it said “Up to,” so it is not definitely that all ipods will be 30% off, all laptops 25%, maybe only one or two models 30% or 25% off.
