Other Stuff: iPhone 4S, Time Capsules, iTunes 11, MacBook Air, Etc.

iPhone 4S/iPhone 5: There’s an outside chance this could be Apple’s “one more thing,” but we doubt it. Apple’s taken pains to let people know that WWDC is going to focus on software, not hardware… they wouldn’t do that for a cheap fake-out. Besides, Apple just released a ‘new’ iPhone in April with the white iPhone 4… a new iPhone just three months later risks pissing off millions of customers who just signed contracts. Expect the next iPhone in September instead.

Updated Time Capsules: New reports are suggesting that new Time Capsules with larger storage capacities will integrate with iCloud. In addition, they will keep track of the Apple devices that connect to them and then cache official updates for them in the background, so that the next time plug in your iPhone or iPad or reboot your Mac, the latest software is ready to be installed. Even better? They’ll run iOS on A5 CPUs like the second-gen AppleTV.

iTunes 11: We haven’t heard anything specifically about this, but it makes sense: iCloud’s ability to scan-and-match your music library into the cloud is a radical addition to Apple’s media managing software… so radial it can’t be done in a simple point update. Expect a new version of iTunes to drop at WWDC, probably with a new icon.

New MacBook Airs: Supply of current MacBook Airs is running low, and it’s strongly tipped that new models with Sandy Bridge processors and Thunderbolt will pop up after WWDC.
