The last major music label has finally been wooed by Apple, just in time for Steve Jobs to present iCloud at Monday’s WWDC.
According to Cnet, Apple has just inked contracts with Universal Music Group. That means that Apple now has all four of the major record labels including EMI, Sony and Warner aboard for iCloud. All that’s left to do is formally launch the service.
Why did Apple need to sign deals with the four major music labels when Amazon and Google told them to go sit and spin? It’s all about iCloud’s rumored match-and-sync technology, which will allow iTunes to mirror your library in the cloud without uploading a single file, even if your library is full of non-iTunes or pirated tracks.
