Porsche iPhone App Will Measure Your Vehicle’s G-Forces

From the “Not Sure If This Is A Good Idea” Department, automaker Porsche has developed the Porsche G-Force iPhone app as a free download for driving enthusiasts and teenagers of all ages.

If you’ve ever wondered what type of gravitational forces are you pulling with your vehicle maneuvers, you are probably not driving safely. But to quantify this factor, the G-Force app keeps track of your driving speed, distance, duration and G-Force. Values are displayed in real-time during your trip, and can be reviewed and stored for future reference. Of course, you can then share your results with friends via Twitter or e-mail.

Porsche notes that the app is for entertainment purposes only, and explicitly notes the following:

“Please drive carefully and safely, adhering to speed limits and traffic regulations in your country and do not use this application for speeding or racing. […] Porsche cannot be held responsible for any damage inflicted on persons or objects of any amount.”

I’ll give this a whirl today, but I don’t think my Honda CRV’s results will turn many heads…
