Supposedly, what you see on the left here is the new iPod Nano, complete with 1.3 megapixel camera and with the clip removed. Consider us skeptical that Apple would ditch the Nano’s sports cred for anything as utterly superfluous as camming yet another camera into people’s pockets.
As you can see, to accommodate the camera lens, the new Nano would have to ditch the sports clip that allows the Nano to snap onto the shirt sleeves, waist bands and lapels of the legions of joggers and fitness nuts who favor the Nano as their PMP of choice.
Given how big of a point Apple has made of appealing to fitness users with the Nano line, this means one of two things: either Apple has some other idea in mind about how the sports clip on the Nano can be replaced (hopefully an idea more elegant than a third-party arm band) or this is a gag.
My guess is that it’s a gag. The camera inside the new Nano is reported to be 1.3MP, which is huge for a device this small: the iPad 2 and iPod Touch, for example, only has a 0.7 megapixel camera. Why Apple would shove a far superior camera into a device that is innately far less capable of displaying high-res, high-quality images than the iPad 2 just makes us cluck our tongue nd slowly waggle our eyebrows about the upper hemisphere of our foreheads.
What do you think?
