Shameless Super Mario Bros. Rip-Off Hits The App Store

In a recent study by National Geographic co-sponsored by Nintendo Power magazine, it was found that the only people on Earth who have never heard of that strange, mushroom-gobbling, Koopa-smashing plumber, Mario, are the natives of certain Papua New Guinea aboriginal tribes. So I guess we know where Apple is outsourcing the App Store review process: a shameless rip-off of Super Mario Bros, using Nintendo’s trademarked assets, has hit the hit the iOS App Store.

Costing 99 cents, 莫尼诺拯救总动员 is about as shameless a rip as you can find, from the ROM-scraped assets right down to the app description:

The protagonist of this game named Monino, in the story of this game, Monino’s brother was captured by a monster named Bowler, he is on the road to Bowler’s castle to rescue his brother, a lot of monsters in different levels are waiting for him, would you like to join Monino’s rescue action? Go!

This won’t last longer than it takes the manager of Apple’s App Store Certification Team to read the feeds over his morning cup of coffee, then do a spit-take, so if you have any interest in playing Super Mario Brothers on your iPhone or iPad… go, go, go.
