Zap Asteroids With Just Your Voice – Play Pah! [Review]

PAH! I say to you. PAH!

Not because I despise what you say, but because I’m playing PAH!, and when you’re playing PAH!, you end up saying PAH! quite a lot.

PAH! is an iOS game with a twist. You don’t need any hands to play it, you only need a voice.

It’s a simple side-scrolling space shoot-em-up. To move your ship up and down you say “AAAAAAAH”, and to fire your laser you say “PAH!”

I love the idea of PAH! but for the life of me, I can’t get it to work very well. I’m not sure if it’s my Kentish accent, or just that I’m an adult and perhaps the voice recognition system has been designed to respond to children’s voices.

No matter how much I sit there going “AAAAHH PAH! PAH! AAAAAAAAAHHH PAH!” I can’t quite get the ship to do what I want it to do. My games tend to be quite short.

PAH! is almost there, and if you can get it to work with your voice, I’m sure it’ll be lots of fun, especially for the kids. Perhaps not in public libraries, quiet medical waiting rooms, or funeral parlours though.

PAH! costs one dollar and you can find it in the App Store.
