Who Needs a Steve Jobs Keynote at Macworld, We’ve Got Sinbad!

Yeah, I said Sinbad! Apparently it’s an old joke that everyone has a “I-met-Sinbad-at-Macworld” story, after all, he’s been coming to Macworld since 1985. Well since he was going to be here anyway, they asked him to get on stage and give a keynote, and I’m glad they did because it was fantastic.

Sinbad had the crowd rolling with laughter–in fact I think the lady behind me hacked up a kidney–but the deeper theme of what he was saying was no joke. Story after story, he spoke about different Apple products and how they’ve changed the world as we know it. A CPR app that saved a man’s life; a director who filmed his work of art with 10 iPhones; the artist who self-produced his first album. Apple has opened the doors for the average person to do things that were never before possible, at least not without a lot of money or a big business backing you. Apple has altered the way we live our lives, and that’s a very cool thing.

Other delectable notables from his keynote:

If you want to covert a PC person, just open up your Mac and show them how you can use it.

‎”You haven’t done anything great till you get fired for it, like Steve Jobs.”

Apple has provided a way for you to go to college for free, iTunes U. Send your kid to iTunes U and go to Hawaii with the money you save.

Everybody got an “iPhone killer,” but nobody’s trying to make an Android killer. Why is that?

If you’ve never picked up a Macbook Air man, pick one up, it’ll blow your mind.

Audience Member Question: What new feature is the next iPhone going to have? Sinbad: The next iPhone is going to have RECEPTION. -BIG LAUGHTER

Apple’s biggest mistake was ever letting Steve Jobs go. That was a dark time for all of us.

My favorite app right now is 1stVideo.

No Apple here (at Macworld) is no big deal. I can go to their website to see their new products. Macworld is for the smaller companies making stuff you’ve never heard about. And for the swagg. Macworld is the dream of possessing software you’re never going to buy.

Asked about the new Windows 7 OS: Windows has so many phones, even if 7 works, I’m tired. It’s over, no one cares anymore.
