According to a post on Apple Discussion forums by user addcore AppleCare suggested a fix for the occasional problem where an external monitor attached to a MacBook Air would flicker. However, the fix doesn’t seem to be a complete cure, but according to addcore, ” I’ve seen two tiny instances which is a major improvement to the every thirty sec flickering. ”
So not completely cured, but better. Read on to find out how this was accomplished.
Step 2: Connect your power cord and plug it in if it isn’t already connected. Turn your MacBook Air off.
Step 3: Press the following keys Shift+Control+Option on the left side of the keyboard while simultaneously pressing the Power button on the right side of the keyboard. Hold all these buttons for 5 seconds. This performs an internal hardware reset – you won’t see any activity.
Step 4: While pressing and holding Command+P+R turn your MacBook Air on do not release the three keys until you have heard the Mac OS X startup sound twice. This will perform another hardware reset.
Now you are ready to log into your MacBook Air like you would normally.
Keep an eye on this discussion thread regarding the flickering screen issues which I reported about previously. The complaints about the problem are few and far between and I myself have not experienced it again after installing all the updates released after the MacBook Air went on sale.
Note that I have not as of yet had to apply this fix to my own 13-inch MacBook Air. If you are still experiencing problems this fix is worth a try. Let us know how it works for you by leaving a comment.
