Apple TV+ reportedly picked Austin Butler and Callum Turner for the cast of Masters of the Air, a followup to HBO’s mega-hit Band of Brothers. Supposedly, two more lead actors have been chosen but not yet named.

The limited series will follow a group of bomber pilots during WWII.

For those familiar with the book, Butler will play Major Gale Cleven while Turner will take on the role of Major John Egan, according to Deadline.

Austin Butler appeared in Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood.
The 19 year old also had the lead role in The Shannara Chronicles. And Callum Turner was in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and will also appear in its successor, currently filming.

Up, up with the Masters of the Air

The Apple TV+ series will be based on the book Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany by Donald L. Miller. The publisher calls it, “the deeply personal story of the American bomber boys in World War II who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep.”

The show will be produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman of Playtone and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television. Their previous efforts produced Band of Brothers and the earlier sequel, The Pacific. Those two HBO series scored a combined 33 Emmy nominations.

Masters of the Air will include 10 episodes for Apple TV+ subscribers. Reportedly, the production will cost about $250 million. When the show will be available to watch is not yet known.

When it is, it’ll almost certainly be exclusive to Apple’s streaming video service. This already has more than 50 series and films, either available now or coming soon. There are thrillers, crime dramas, comedies and documentaries. Apple TV+ costs $4.99 a month.
