Apple TV+ will premiere a drama based on the classic book The Mosquito Coast this April. The first trailer for the series dropped Friday, and it looks like an adventure. (At least that’s what the lead character keeps telling us.)

In addition, Apple’s streaming service also revealed that ’80s comedy/drama Physical will debut this summer.

Flee to the The Mosquito Coast with Apple TV+

Paul Theroux’s novel The Mosquito Coast marks its 40th anniversary this year. It tells the story of a radical idealist and brilliant inventor, Allie Fox (played by Justin Theroux), who uproots his family to escape to Mexico when they suddenly find themselves on the run from the U.S. government.

Apple TV+ adapted the book into a seven-part series. Watch the Mosquito Coast trailer for a first look:.

The first two episodes of The Mosquito Coast will premiere on Apple’s streaming service on April 30, followed by new episodes every Friday.

Let’s get Physical

The Television Critics Association Winter 2021 Press Tour is going on now, so Apple went ahead and gave an early look at Rose Byrne in character for her role in Physical. (See image at top of post.)

A half-hour dark comedy set in sunny San Diego during the 1980s, it’ll follow Sheila Rubin (played by Byrne), a quietly tortured, seemingly dutiful housewife supporting her smart but controversial husband’s bid for state assembly. She finds an unexpected release from her demons through aerobics.

The 10-episode original series will premiere this summer on Apple TV+.

Apple’s streaming video service isn’t all about drama. It’s still fairly new but promises more than 50 series and films, either available now or coming soon. There are thrillers, crime dramas, comedies and documentaries. Apple TV+ costs $4.99 a month.
