We’ve been remiss in officially marking the event, but make no mistake, it’s only because we’ve turned into gem-matching zombies. Let us remedy that now: Popcap’s Bejewled 3 is now available for download on the Mac. And it’s awesome.
For just $19.99, you can get Bejeweled 3 for the Mac now via Steam or Popcap’s web site. There’s eight modes of gem-matching goodness, but only four are unlocked: Classic, which is the Bejeweled you’ve always known; Zen, which is an endless mode replete with calming, soothing aural tones and a special breath modulation mode; Lightning, which is similar to the Blitz Mode in Bejeweled Twist; and Quest, a series of 40 puzzles and 11 mini-games.
By playing those modes, you unlock four mode, though. Lightining is a time based mode in which your generated butterflies get gobbled up by spiders if you fail to make a set amount of matches; Poker is Bejeweled given a poker twist, where each gem match forms a card in a poker hand; Diamond Mine is about matching gems at the bottom of the field to blast earth out of the way; and Ice Storm is just torture.
I’m loving it on the Mac, available here (now!) for just $19.99, but this is a game that was meant for iOS… a version still, sadly, MIA.
