The wait for Adobe Photoshop Camera is almost over. When it hits the App Store on June 9, the free iPhone application will let users add filters and effects before they even take a picture. And it will employ artificial intelligence to clean up images.
Adobe Photoshop Camera is for Instagram users
Photoshop Camera is clearly geared toward the immediacy of social media. It will allow quick, stylized edits for posting shortly after capture. The application can automatically apply adjustments for dynamic range, exposure and tonality.
The iOS app will use artificial intelligence to analyze the shooter’s subject matter to determine the ideal lens and effects. Of course, the software will let the user dismiss its suggestions, and give the power to change lenses and effects.
Photoshop Camera will also include a series of filters with names like Boom, Mixed Media, Pop Art and Night Shift. They add overlays of images, colors and effects to images.
Adobe is taking “preorders” for Photoshop Camera now on the App Store, though the software is free. The only in-app purchase currently listed is for additional Creative Cloud storage.
Adobe embraces iPhone and iPad too
This company clearly doesn’t believe that only “real” work happens on a Mac. While Photoshop Camera is geared for non-professional photographers, Adobe also makes a range of pro-level iPhone applications for working with images and video.
That’s even more true for Apple tablets. Photoshop for iPad debuted in 2019 and continues to get new features, while Illustrator for iPad is in beta testing.
