Apple was on a roll yesterday: not only did their crackerjack team of programmers manage to release a new point update for Safari 4 and 5 resolving many existing issues, but they also pushed down the Software Update pipeline a new Boot Camp and MacBook EFI update.

The new Boot Camp update is available for both 32 Bit and 64 Bit Windows installs and provides support for the ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card, the Apple USB Ethernet adapter and the MacBook Air SuperDrive, alongside a gaggle of bug fixes.

Additionally, there’s a new EFI Firmware update for the MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.0 reportedly resolves an issues where an attached external display may occasionally and incorrectly show a purple tinge.

I’m curious to try this Boot Camp update out. Although the release notes don’t specifically mention it, Windows 7 on my 27-inch iMac has never played nice under Boot Camp, dumping me to a black screen on boot. My iMac doesn’t have an ATI-Radeon HD 5870 GPU, but I’m still helpful that those other bug fixes might have fixed things somewhat.
