This Sunday, October 31st is Halloween and if you aren’t thinking about Halloween yet you should be. Since it is almost here.

Do you know what your costume will be this year? Need to add a little zip to your scary get up? Here is a collection of iOS apps that are bound to add some fun to the scariest holiday of the year.

If you download them and get scared don’t blame me about things you hear that go bump in the night afterwards.

SpookyTones

SpookyTones by Electric Pocket makes your iOS device a part of your Halloween celebration by giving you distinctive Halloween e-mail alert sounds. You can pick a spooky sounding new e-mail tone, setup custom tones for your contacts, etc.

It’s a pretty neat program, but it does require you to forward your e-mail to their servers in order to receive a push notification. Once you receive that notification on your iOS device the spooky sound you selected comes blaring out of its speakers.

The setup and requirements for this can get a bit complicated. You might also be concerned about privacy so check out the apps iTunes entry for more information using the link below.

The app is currently free via this iTunes link.

The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin

The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Oceanhouse Media, Inc. is a great interactive eBook for children that your family will enjoy. The premise behind this pumpkin story is:

One day in the pumpkin patch the strangest little pumpkin hatched.” Spookley the Pumpkin was different. In a world where “the only good pumpkins are round pumpkins,” Spookley The Square Pumpkin is shunned until a mighty storm threatens to destroy the entire patch. As the storm rages, Spookley realizes “it’s fine to be round while the weather is fair, but there are times it’s better to be a square! Sometimes being different can save the day!

The moral of the story is good and the narration by Bobby “Boris” Picket, singer of the perennial Halloween favorite “Monster Mash” is great.  The eBook is completely interactive across iOS devices and includes custom music, background audio, and enlarged artwork for each scene. The app also helps promote reading  which definitely isn’t a bad thing.

Definitely worth a look for readers of all ages. It’s on sale now for $.99 to celebrate the holiday. Get your copy via this iTunes link.

What Was I Scared of?

What was I scared of? – by Dr. Seuss app by Oceanhouse Media, Inc. is a great interactive eBook for children that your family will enjoy. The premise behind this Dr. Seuss story is:

“And there I was! Caught in the Snide! And in that dreadful place, Those spooky, empty pants and I Were standing face to face!” Perfect for Halloween or any time of year, this story delivers a timeless message about fear and tolerance. The tale begins with a character who repeatedly meets up with an empty pair of pale-green pants. The character is initially afraid of the pants, which are able to stand on their own despite the lack of a wearer. However when he screams for help and the pants also start to cry, he realizes that “They were just as scared as I!” Putting fear in the proper perspective, the empty pants become good friends with the character.

The moral of the story is just as good as the last one. The eBook is completely interactive across iOS devices and includes custom music, background audio, and enlarged artwork for each scene. This app also helps promote reading which definitely isn’t a bad thing.

Definitely another one worth looking at for readers of all ages. It’s only $1.99. Get your copy via this iTunes link.

123 Glow

123 Glow is an HD coloring book by Steve Glinberg that offers 30 brightly glowing colors, 48 drawings to be colored in, pictures and stickers to use to make glowing creations, and some tricks to prevent painting outside the lines.

The app isn’t just for Halloween since the developer will release an update on November 1st that adds more glowing holiday drawings for you to color.

The app is fun, easy to use, and makes a pretty good substitute for crayons or magic markers. Especially the latter since those can get pretty messy.

The app is currently on sale today only, October 28th, at half off for only $1.99. You can get a copy for yourself via this iTunes link.

All-in-One ZombieBox

All-in-One ZombieBox by Appy Entertainment, Inc. is chock full of brains, zombie mayhem, etc. If you’re a zombie fanatic or you frequently spend time going to zombie flash mobs then this app is for you. ZombieBox brings 10 different zombie themed apps into one individual app:
