The kids have spoken. They don’t want toys for Christmas. They don’t want candy. They don’t want games or CDs or DVDs.

They want iDevices.

A survey conducted by Duracell asked children what they were most keen to see wrapped under the Christmas tree this year, and the top three answers were iPhone 4, iPod touch, and iPad.

The full top 10 list was:

  1. iPhone 4 (14% of the votes)
  2. iPod touch (13%)
  3. iPad (12%)
  4. Kinect for Xbox 360 (6%)
  5. Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters (5%)
  6. Flip Video Camera (4%)
  7. Toy Story 3 Jet Pack Buzz Lightyear (4%)
  8. PlayStation Move (4%)
  9. LEGO Harry Potter Video Game (3%)
  10. Barbie Video Girl (3%)

I can relate to this. My 8-year-old, asked what he wanted for his eighth birthday recently, trotted out the exact same top 3. Several of his classmates already own iPod touches, and plenty more are desperate to get their hands on an iPod or iPad of their own.

Of course, the blame lies entirely with us, the parents. If we allow our kids to watch us messing about with iDevices all the time, we should expect them to want to do the same. They’re only copying what they see.

What do your kids want for Christmas? And if the answer’s an iDevice of some kind, will you get them one?
