We Got It (Almost) Right: Apple Implements Its Version of Yahoo Answers

Apple forum

UPDATE: Well, turns out we were wrong about this one; it’s been around for awhile. Crow, anyone?

That rumor we mentioned yesterday — the one where we thought Apple would announce a new social network based around Apple Genii? Turns out Apple quietly added something very close to what we predicted yesterday during the virtual Apple Store’s refresh for the new MacBook Air and iLife ’11.

It’s a completely revamped forum. It resembles Yahoo Answers — only prettier, and Apple-ized — complete with the ability to vote on answers and a “Best Answer.”

Like Ping, this new feature is another major step toward integrating social media into the Apple experience. Interestingly, its appearance coincides with the launch of Facebook’s new “Questions” feature, its own version of Yahoo Answers; no doubt a topic Jobs and Zuckerberg tossed about over dinner the other night.

Bam. We’ve been getting the rumors right all week — and in this case, no one else seems to have caught even a whiff.
