If you’ve not had the pleasure of reading the interviews at The Setup before, I urge you to set aside some of your precious time and go and read them today.
The premise is simple: ask some very clever, very talented, and in some cases extremely famous people what their computer setup is. What hardware do they use? What software? Why do they use the things they’ve chosen, and how could their setup be improved?
It’s just fascinating reading what these people are doing and how they’re doing it. And also, for the more smug Cultists among us, it’s somewhat satisfying: because the vast majority of these clever, talented and sometimes famous people are Mac users.
In particular, they tend to be MacBook Pro users. Matthew Mckeon? MacBook Pro. Jason Fried? MacBook Pro. Keita Takahashi? MacBook Pro. Many of The Setup’s interviewees use one, and make a point of mentioning its just-right combination of power and portability.
Here’s what struck me as I flicked through these interviews again today: remember the misfits? The crazy ones? They used to be so hard to find. Not any more.
