People of Apple Site Shows Ugly Side of “Macs?”

Depending where you fall on the “I’m a Mac” scale, the candid snapshots of Apple customers at Apple retail stores are a little unsettling.

People of Apple is a cringe-gallery modeled on the creative back fat of People of Walmart.

If you identify with the idea that Apple people are cool, you may want to think different after perusing a few pics of box-licking from the site that promises “Real people. Real Steve Jobs worshipers.”

So far, it’s a pretty bare bones WordPress site that has also used some pretty stale Mac fanatic photos — anybody who regularly reads Apple-related sites will recognize a few old costumed dogs and the infamous bathing suit. The slams at pretty regular-looking folks (the “Librarian” and “Cousin Vinnie“) just seem gratuitous.

Who’s behind it? As iPhone Savior first discovered, it’s registered to Fake Steve Jobs, aka Dan Lyons. We double-checked with whois and it checks out — he’s owned the domain for a year but has just now started populating the site.

If he wants to show the “People of Apple” he should be snapping the staff. Some of them intentionally show butt. or at least undies. I was in an LA store the other day and in less than 10 minutes I could tell you the underwear type of 8 of the 9 ‘gentlemen’ on staff including one manager. All because their pants were belted to show their undies. One guy was wearing jeans so short they barely reached the bottom of his butt.
And of the 6 ‘ladies’ 3 were exposing undies

Some of the shots are funny, but they aren’t “car-wrecks” like the WallMart site.
The point of the “People of WallMart” is that the people on it are ugly/dirty/disgusting/shocking etc. Not many of these folks raise to that level at all. The buttcrack guy is the closest one.
Most of these Apple folks look a bit cracked but are otherwise thin, healthy, attractive and reasonably clean.
Until you find 300 lb housewives in their nighties shopping at the Apple store or unwashed fathers dragging their limp kids along the floor on leashes, this is never going to be like that WallMart site.

Love his plugs so much! I have some that were custom made for me as well but they were when I was wearing smaller sized jewelry.

Yawn. I’m not impressed. Just someone beating the dead horse of Apple hating. It’s been done guys, and you lost.

Just confirms the reason I deleted FSJ’s bookmark months ago when it was obvious he’d become an Apple-hater. FWIW, if anyone remembers the video of the grand opening of the first Microsoft retail store and the people there, THAT’S who FSJ ought to be posting photos of, if he’s going to stoop so low. Personally, I think the whole idea is just mean. FakeSteveJobs is an asshole.

I understand what they’re trying to do, but it’s just not funny. Like gazoobee said, no car wrecks like people of wal-mart. Which is a shame ’cause it was totally what i was looking for.
Umm, I’ll give this a fail.
