Internet giant Google is among several technology companies reducing their presence at the upcoming Macworld Expo, a report said Friday.

According to AppleInsider, event organizer IDG is “frantically negotiating” to keep Google and other unnamed high-profile exhibitors from bypassing the annual gathering of Mac companies.

A 20 percent drop in companies planning to attend has forced IDG to extend a sign-up discount through Dec. 8, according to the Web site.

The report also suggest Creative Labs, Belkin and Seagate have pulled out of Macworld Expo following the decision by Adobe to pull its booth in favor of a purely educational role. Wednesday, the San Jose, Calif. software maker cut 600 jobs, citing flagging consumer demand.

One silver lining for the exodus of big names: smaller exhibitors usually pushed into the shadows may be moved front and center to fill holes in the floorplan.

For a Mac blog you could at least spell the title of your article right, it’s Macworld, not MacWorld. C’mon guys, it’s in the freakin’ picture!
